Job Description
At Aberdeen, our ambition is to be the UK’s leading Wealth & Investments group. Strengthening talent and culture is one of our strategic priorities. We strive to make Aberdeen a great place to work so that we can attract and retain the industry’s best talent. Our people put our stakeholders at the heart of everything they do by helping us to make a positive difference to the lives of our clients, customers, colleagues, shareholders, and society. We are focused on growing our direct and advised wealth platforms and repositioning our specialist asset management business to meet client demand. We are committed to providing excellent client service, supported by leading technology and talent.
Aberdeen comprises three businesses, interactive investor (ii), Investments, and Adviser, each of which focuses on meeting and adapting to our clients’ evolving needs:
- interactive investor, the UK’s second largest direct-to-consumer investment platform, enables individuals in the UK to plan, save, and invest in the way that works for them.
- Our Adviser business provides financial planning solutions and technology for UK financial advisers, enabling them to create value for their customers.
- Our Investments business is a specialist asset manager that focuses on areas where we have both strength and scale to capitalise on the key themes shaping the market, through either public markets or alternative asset classes.
About the Department
The Developed Market Credit team sits within our global Fixed Income platform, a high-performing and collaborative environment managing over £130bn in assets across a diverse range of strategies. The team delivers both traditional and innovative ESG-focused solutions across investment grade and high yield credit, supporting institutional and retail clients worldwide.
With a strong focus on teamwork rather than individual ownership, you will work closely with experienced colleagues across geographies to drive consistent performance and innovation. Together, the team enables our clients to be better investors through disciplined research, partnership and forward-thinking investment strategies.
About the Role
As an Investment Director – Portfolio Manager, you will play a key role in managing Euro and Global Investment Grade Credit portfolios and potentially covering specific sectors within the European credit universe, contributing to both performance and innovation within a well-established team. This is a senior opportunity within a globally recognised investment platform, offering scope to shape portfolios, influence strategy and further develop your expertise in credit markets.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
