Investment Manager
Division: Rathbones Investment Management Location: Liverpool Contract: Permanent Working pattern: Hybrid
About the Role
To develop investment business and ensure good client outcomes by building strong relationships, managing client portfolios, and contributing to the growth of the firm. The role involves leading client relationships, delivering excellent service, and actively participating in business development, mentoring, and internal initiatives. It marks progression from the Associate role, with increased autonomy, strategic input, and commercial awareness and impact.
Responsibilities
Client Service & Investment Management
- Take responsibility for seeking excellent client outcomes through proactive service, management of portfolios, and suitability oversight.
- Lead client relationships and ensure timely, high-quality interactions, communication, and documentation.
- Collaborate with internal and external professional contacts to deliver holistic wealth solutions.
- Strengthen relationships with Rathbones Financial Planning, Portfolio Management, and other internal services.

Investment Strategy & Technical Expertise
- Ensure investment portfolios are aligned with client objectives and market conditions.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of Rathbones' investment process, conducting additional research and analysis to support client requirements and outcomes.
- Maintain strong understanding of Rathbones’ proposition, have commercial awareness of the wider market, and clear knowledge of the regulatory framework.
Business Development & Growth
- Evidence growth of client book in line with firm strategy, personal business development plan, and pipeline of new opportunities.
- Refine your Rathbones pitch to deliver with confidence and clarity.
- Demonstrate commercial awareness and contribute to the firm’s growth initiatives.
Team Contribution & Leadership
- Mentor and support junior team members, sharing expertise and fostering development.
- Actively participate in internal forums and prepare to contribute to committees and business projects as required.
- Promote a collaborative culture and uphold the firm’s values and standards.

Requirements
- Strong and well-established client and investment management skills.
- Proficiency in research, analysis, and IT systems.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Commercial awareness and ability to identify growth opportunities.
- Client-centric mindset with integrity and professionalism.
- Collaborative and proactive approach to team and firm initiatives.
- Ownership, accountability, and attention to detail.
- Active listening and adaptability.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and feedback.
Background
- Experience in investment management with experience managing portfolios.
- Demonstrated success in client service and business development.
- Level 7 qualification (preferably Chartered Wealth Manager), and Level 4 Investment Advice Diploma.
Additional Considerations
- Experience in client administration and regulatory compliance.
