Role Title: Investment Director/ Manager

Division: Rathbones Investment Management - London

Location: London

Contract: Permanent

Working pattern: Hybrid

About the Role

In this role you will develop investment business and manage client portfolios within parameters agreed with clients. As an Investment Director you will play a pivotal role in driving business growth, ensuring high-quality client service and outcomes and delivering good investment performance. This role demonstrates leadership, commercial awareness and strategic thinking, and a commitment to mentoring Junior team members and contributing to the wider success of the firm.

We are looking for a team player who will work closely with the existing Senior Investment Directors. This team oversees clients who have more invested with us than is typical across the business.

What you’ll be responsible for

Client Service & Investment Management

  • Deliver excellent client outcomes through proactive portfolio management and high-quality service.
  • Guide the team in ensuring that all client administration processes, compliance and Investment Risk requirements are met accurately and in a timely way.
  • Take the initiative to identify Financial Planning opportunities and collaborate closely with both internal and external partners.

Business Development & Growth

  • Expectation of significant personal FUM and contribution to growth revenue, values as determined by leadership.
  • Deepen relationships with clients and professional advisers, taking opportunities to generate new business.
  • Actively grow personal and team AUM in alignment with the firm’s strategic direction.
  • Deliver a confident and highly proficient Rathbones pitch and client-facing presentations, contributing to the firm’s commercial success.
  • Develop and promote the firm’s client proposition and identify new market opportunities.

Leadership & Business Contribution

  • Provide leadership and oversight to Junior team members, ensuring delivery of high standards across the client lifecycle.
  • Drive the professional development of self and others, acting as a mentor and role model.
  • Encourage and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in projects, committees, and firm-wide initiatives to support strategic goals.

About you

If you meet some of these criteria and are excited about the role, we encourage you to apply:

  • Extensive experience in investment management, including managing client portfolios.
  • Extensive client facing experience with direct private clients.
  • Level 7 qualification (CISI Chartered Wealth Manager).
  • Proven track record in business development and relationship management.
  • Experience in leading junior team members and overseeing client lifecycle activities.
  • Sound knowledge of industry developments, products and regulation.
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to influence and educate clients and colleagues.
  • Demonstrates leadership, integrity, and accountability.
  • Role model for collaboration, empathy, and emotional intelligence.
  • Commercially astute with a growth mindset.
  • Proactive in mentoring and developing others.
  • Committed to continuous improvement and professional excellence.
