iOS Developer – Feast Team at The Guardian

We are seeking an iOS Developer to join our Feast team. The Feast app delivers the best recipe experience, curating exclusive dishes from top chefs while enriching users with thousands of seasonal recipes. Our mission is to create a premium, personalised cooking companion that sparks discovery, inspires culinary exploration, and enhances daily life.

About the Role

  • Build, test, and maintain major features and existing functionality in the Feast app.
  • Code primarily in Swift and SwiftUI, applying expertise across the entire codebase.
  • Collaborate with iOS developers, UX/UI designers, editorial staff, and commercial teams to align technology with user needs.
  • Participate actively in key team decision-making processes, balancing both product vision and technical feasibility.
  • Engage in peer code reviews to uphold high-quality coding standards and application integrity.
  • Drive innovation through daily work and through our regular hack days (dedicated innovation time).

  • Be a guided problem solver with a clear passion for iOS development.
  • Possess substantial personal or professional experience—ideally commercial—building, testing, and shipping iOS apps.
  • Have advanced Swift knowledge, including modern frameworks like SwiftUI, and demonstrate expertise in clean, functional iOS architecture.
  • Make judicious technology choices, selecting tools and libraries based on their appropriateness rather than novelty.
  • Care deeply about code quality and consistent, maintainable coding style.

About the Workplace

We operate in a hybrid model: one day per week at our Kings Cross office; four days remotely. Transparency in remuneration is our principle. The salary for this role is £62,000.
