iOS Engineer
About Quantum Base
Quantum Base has invented the Q-ID, a world-leading technology solution for anti-counterfeit, brand protection, and security printing. Q-IDs cannot be photocopied, can be put on anything, and can be authenticated with any smartphone. Our largest client is a prestigious security printer that is using Q-IDs for a government tax stamp programme. The first target markets are security printers, tax stamps, and brand protection. Quantum Base is 11 years old and was founded by Professor Robert Young at Lancaster University. Our mission is to create a new global standard. See them in action here: https://youtu.be/br-f15t-qtQ
About the Role
Mobile is the front door to the Q-ID. Every authentication, whether it’s a customs officer scanning a tax stamp, a partner embedding Q-ID verification into their own app, or a consumer checking a product is genuine, happens on a smartphone. These authentications happen in variable real-world conditions, on a wide range of devices.
The iOS Engineer will be responsible for productising research and development outputs, creating a robust and well-engineered app and SDK. They will bring skills across:
- Native iOS (Swift, SwiftUI, AVFoundation, Core ML, Vision)
- Mobile SDK distribution, for partners embedding Q-ID into their own apps
- Cross-platform integrations like.NET MAUI, React Native, and Flutter
- Integration with our AWS verification APIs

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
