iOS Engineer
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an iOS Engineer based in United Kingdom.
This is a senior mobile engineering opportunity focused on building and improving a large-scale iOS application used by millions of users.
You will work in a high-impact product environment where reliability, performance, and user experience are key priorities.
The role combines hands-on Swift development with architectural decision-making, technical collaboration, and continuous improvement.
You will partner with engineers, designers, and product teams to deliver scalable and intuitive mobile experiences.
This position offers the opportunity to influence iOS engineering standards while working on business-critical features.
You will contribute to a culture of ownership, knowledge sharing, and modern software development practices.
The role is ideal for an experienced iOS developer who enjoys solving complex challenges and building products at scale.
Accountabilities:
- Responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality iOS applications while contributing to technical excellence across the mobile engineering team.
- Own features from concept to delivery and collaborate with cross-functional teams to create reliable, scalable user experiences.
- Design, build, and maintain production-grade iOS applications using Swift across UIKit and SwiftUI codebases.
- Deliver features through a continuous delivery approach, shipping incremental improvements to production.
- Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate APIs and improve client-server communication.
- Work closely with product managers and designers to transform ideas and designs into accessible, high-quality mobile experiences.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, including unit and integration tests.
- Contribute to test automation, code reviews, refactoring efforts, and architectural discussions.
- Help define and improve iOS development standards, patterns, and engineering practices.
- Mentor and support other engineers by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify technical risks, communicate challenges early, and help implement effective long-term solutions.
- Contribute to improving application performance, reliability, and overall user experience.

Requirements:
- Experienced iOS engineer with a strong understanding of mobile development practices, software architecture, and collaborative engineering workflows.
- Strong professional experience developing iOS applications using Swift.
- Solid experience with UIKit and practical experience using SwiftUI in production environments.
- Good understanding of iOS architecture patterns such as MVC, MVVM, VIPER, or similar approaches.
- Experience integrating RESTful APIs, handling JSON data, and working with client-server architectures.
- Hands-on experience writing unit tests using XCTest and a strong quality-focused mindset.
- Familiarity with iOS CI/CD pipelines and automation tools such as Fastlane or similar solutions.
- Strong knowledge of Git and modern collaborative development workflows.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English within a distributed team environment.
- Experience working with Objective-C and maintaining or migrating legacy codebases is a plus.
- Experience building high-traffic consumer applications is an advantage.
- Knowledge of SwiftUI at scale, Combine, performance optimisation, crash monitoring, or mobile observability is a plus.
- Previous mentoring or technical leadership experience is beneficial.
