About the Role

The Mental Health Employment Support Service is a dedicated team of professionals committed to helping individuals facing mental health challenges find fulfilling work—because employment plays a crucial role in their recovery.

This opportunity offers the chance to provide and coordinate employment support to service users under the care of Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, focusing on the East Division (South Somerset and Mendip).

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the evidence-based Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model to help service users gain or retain meaningful, open employment.
  • Conduct specialist vocational assessments within Community Mental Health Teams.
  • Collaborate as part of a county-wide Mental Health Employment Service to ensure aligned, high-quality support.
  • Work closely with Somerset NHS Foundation Trust teams to facilitate sustainable employment journeys.

Who We’d Like to speak to?

You’ll need:

  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC), or equivalent council for Social Workers/Occupational Therapists.
  • Experience in mental health support (whether via clinical care, rehabilitation, or employment support).
  • A passion for recovery-focused practice and desire to empower individuals through workplace inclusion.
  • Strong interpersonal and advocacy skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
