ISS Project Engineer
Project Engineer (PE) – In-Service Support Engineers

Description
Are you a Project Engineer (PE) looking for your next opportunity to help support engineering activities across In-Service Support programmes?
CMS2, an established engineering business delivering critical support solutions across complex programmes, is seeking a Project Engineer to join our ISS (In-Service Support) team. In this role, you will act as the focal point for all engineering activities across In-Service Support projects and spares, working directly with the ISS Technical Manager and supporting both the ISS Director and Project Managers to ensure timely delivery of products in line with project and product specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Management & Guidance
- Manage any design improvement/obsolescence activities for assigned projects, providing technical guidance in line with the Product Specification to engineering resources.
- Ensure efficient information flow between multiple departments.
- Responsible for enacting specifications changes (ESS, ECS, MSS, MCS, GES, ETS, etc.).
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain and create Product Bills of Materials.
- Define standard project documentation (technical, operations, maintenance manuals) based on the System Engineering Specification and P&IDs.
- Ensure design reviews, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEAs), and test plans are compliant.

Risk & Stakeholder Support
- Identify and mitigate technical risks with the ISS Technical Manager and ISS Project Managers.
- Provide technical support for customer communications during project delivery.
- Ensure budget and schedule adherence through progress reporting.
Procurement & Quality Assurance
- Raise purchase requisitions for project materials.
- Liaise with Production Team to resolve issues and ensure quality compliance.
- Assist SQE (Symbian Quality Engineering) and Quality Teams in fault resolution.
Engineering & Support
- Provide technical/proposal support for business development.
- Lead testing and commissioning of equipment, collaborating with Test Technicians and Commissioning Engineers.
- Support Site Engineers on off-site work, coordinating resources and materials.
General Duties
- Act as a professional backup for colleagues during peak times or absences.
- Maintain continuous professional development.
- Represent the company as an ambassador in customer interactions.
- Complete ad-hoc duties as required to meet business needs.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Higher National Diploma (HND) or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (or a related subject).
- Experience working in a mechanical or systems engineering environment.
- Flexibility, self-motivation, and enthusiasm to work independently.
- Ability to build long-term client partnerships internally and externally.
- Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional presentation skills, confident public speaking, and professional presentation.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Practical knowledge of mechanical or systems assembly.
- Familiarity with BS.8888 drawing practices.
- Defence industry experience.
- Previous exposure to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Knowledge of ISO 9000 or equivalent quality assurance systems.
Role Travel Requirements
- This role requires occasional travel as dictated by business needs.
- UK-based travel is common; extended travel outside the UK is not anticipated beyond one month.
Other Requirements
- Must have the right to live and work in the UK.
- Security clearance requirement: Must hold a UK Security Check level (or equivalent). This typically requires 5 years of residence in the UK.
