As the IT and Data Protection Manager at Athena Care Homes, you will be your organisation’s first internal point of contact for IT support needs. You must efficiently resolve or escalate technical queries in a timely and professional manner.

About the Role
The IT and Data Protection Manager will deliver high-quality IT support across our homes and central teams, ensuring staff have reliable access to essential systems and technologies for exceptional care and operations. This multi-faceted role combines:
- Technical support (access, systems, devices)
- Systems administration (accounts, licensing, inventory)
- Supplier management & digital transformation
- Cyber security coordination
- Data protection leadership (compliance with GDPR and sectoral standards)
You will act as Athena’s Data Protection Officer, maintaining compliance with cyber security policies, regulatory audits (e.g., Cyber Essentials, NHS DSPT, PCI DSS), and industry certifications.

Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum Hours: 37.5 hours, Monday–Friday (9:00am–5:00pm) Location: Central Office, Russel House, Basildon, Essex (SS15 6TF), with site visits across homes.
Key Responsibilities
Support & IT Delivery
- Provide urgent, responsive IT support (onsite, remote/phone) for a multi-site team.
- Manage user accounts, device lifecycle (including Miradore MDM & Microsoft Intune), and equipment procurement/disposal.
- Oversee cloud services (SharePoint), communications (VoIP, CCTV, call bell systems) and digital transformation projects.
Compliance & Cyber Security
- Lead data protection activities (GDPR, DPIAs, RoPA, breach reporting).
- coordinate Cyber Essentials, NHS DSPT, and PCI DSS compliance and third-party IT audits.
- Advise emerging AI/trends in tech and communicate risks/opportunities to the organisation.
Governance & Growth
- Maintain secure IT governance with oversight of vendor contracts, licence management, and audit logistics.
- Collaborate with operations teams to enhance efficiency, compliance, and quality of care.

- Proven IT support/management experience, preferably in a multi-site environment.
- Strong expertise in:
- Microsoft Office 365, Windows OS, and cloud platforms.
- MDM tools (Miradore/Intune), cyber security best practices, compliance frameworks.
- Supplier/risk assessment skills.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Full UK driving licence with flexibility to travel between locations and support ad-hoc availability.
