Role Summary

Aubay UK is seeking an experienced IT Business Analyst to support a major Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) transformation programme focused on enhancing business processes, data capabilities, and technology platforms within Gas and Power trading operations. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, Product Owners, delivery teams, and technology partners to capture requirements, analyse business processes, define solutions, and ensure successful delivery of business outcomes. This role requires strong business analysis expertise, stakeholder management skills, and experience operating within Agile delivery environments.

The Business Analyst will play a key role in shaping future-state processes, ensuring traceability from business requirements through implementation and testing, while supporting the programme's objective of delivering a scalable, efficient, and future-ready ETRM platform. The role will also contribute to driving process optimisation, technology enablement, and business transformation across front, middle, and back-office functions.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 7–10 years of experience in Business Analysis within IT and technology delivery environments
  • Experience working in energy trading domain
  • Experience working with ETRM systems (Endur, Openlink, or similar)
  • Experience working on Agile projects and delivering within Agile frameworks
  • Strong understanding of Agile principles, tools, and methodologies
  • Experience educating Product Owners, business stakeholders, and delivery teams on Agile ways of working
  • Proven experience capturing and documenting functional and non-functional requirements
  • Experience assessing business processes, data flows, and technology landscapes
  • Strong business process modelling and business requirements management skills
  • Experience creating business cases, cost-benefit analyses, and solution recommendations
  • Strong stakeholder management and facilitation capabilities
  • Experience coordinating and supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and business validation activities
  • Experience working with software vendors, developers, architects, and technical teams
  • Ability to manage requirements traceability throughout the project lifecycle
  • Experience leading large workshops, design sessions, and business analysis activities
  • Experience planning and managing business analysis activities within agreed project timelines
  • Experience leading teams and providing direction on business analysis deliverables and standards
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related discipline

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience supporting large-scale business and technology transformation programmes
  • Understanding of energy trading operations across front, middle, and back-office functions
  • Strong business process redesign, optimisation, and continuous improvement experience
  • Experience working with complex stakeholder groups across business and technology functions
  • Knowledge of data modelling, systems integration, and enterprise application landscapes
  • Strong presentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience leading or mentoring other Business Analysts
  • Experience working within global enterprise environments undergoing digital transformation initiatives

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Capture business problems, business objectives, value drivers, and requirements and translate them into effective solutions
  • Gather and document functional and non-functional requirements
  • Assess risks, feasibility, opportunities, and business impact of proposed solutions
  • Analyse and model current business processes, data flows, and technology landscapes
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and optimisation
  • Develop compelling business cases and support approval, funding, and prioritisation activities
  • Create and maintain high-quality requirements documentation throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure end-to-end traceability of requirements from business need through testing and implementation
  • Work closely with software suppliers, architects, developers, and designers to ensure solutions meet business needs
  • Understand system limitations and contribute to system and database design discussions
  • Configure and document software solutions and business processes using agreed standards and tools
  • Define acceptance criteria and coordinate testing activities
  • Validate delivered solutions against business requirements
  • Plan, execute, monitor, and control business analysis activities within agreed cost, schedule, and quality parameters
  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops, design sessions, and requirements gathering activities
  • Lead stakeholder management activities across business and technology teams
  • Guide and mentor teams performing business analysis activities
  • Set direction and standards for business analysis delivery
  • Drive continuous improvement and recommend process enhancements
