IT Director – Manchester
Our client, a successful organisation, is seeking an experienced IT Director to lead IT strategy, operations, digital transformation, and technology innovation across the business and its subsidiaries.
This is a high-impact leadership role, responsible for ensuring the delivery of secure, reliable, and scalable technology services while driving modernisation across infrastructure, business applications, cybersecurity, software deployment, and operational processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and deliver the group-wide IT strategy, governance framework, and technology roadmap aligned to business objectives.
- Lead all aspects of IT service delivery, including service desk, infrastructure, networks, business systems, and end-user support across multiple locations.
- Oversee enterprise-wide software deployment programmes, ensuring successful planning, implementation, user adoption, and ongoing support.
- Own and enhance the organisation’s management systems, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and strengthen cybersecurity, data protection, business continuity, compliance, and risk management frameworks.
- Evaluate and embed emerging technologies, including AI solutions and AI agents, to improve operational efficiency and business performance.
- Manage IT budgets, technology investments, vendor relationships, and contracts to maximise value and service quality.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a multi-disciplinary IT team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and service excellence.
- Act as a trusted technology advisor to senior leadership, providing strategic guidance on technology opportunities and risks.

What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in a senior IT leadership role such as IT Director, Head of IT, or equivalent.
- Demonstrable success leading IT functions across multi-site or multi-entity organisations.
- Strong expertise in IT service management and operational delivery, ideally within an ITIL-aligned environment.
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale IT transformation programmes, enterprise systems implementations, and technology modernisation initiatives.
- Experience leading enterprise software deployment projects and application rollouts across multiple business functions. Software deployment experience is highly advantageous.
- Strong cybersecurity leadership experience, ideally within regulated, complex, or security-conscious environments.
- Experience managing IT budgets, suppliers, contracts, and technical teams.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure, cloud technologies, infrastructure, and modern workplace security.
- Experience within healthcare or another regulated sector would be advantageous.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to influence at executive level.
