IT Education Engineer – Nottingham / Midlands (Full Time, £33k–£35k per Annum)

Nexus Associates (part of Flywheel IT Services Ltd) employs a team of experienced IT engineers and consultants across the UK. For over 20 years, we’ve supported businesses, schools, and major construction companies with tech strategies, project guidance, and operational efficiency.

  • Assist 200 businesses in leveraging technology
  • Design sustainable ICT infrastructures for 100 new schools and commercial buildings
  • Engage with 33,000 school children, nurturing their ICT skills and technological aspirations

The Role

We’re seeking an IT Education Engineer to bring expertise and energy to our team. If you’ve worked (or currently work) as an IT technician in schools, you likely know the software, networks, and challenges in academia—this role requires that practical understanding.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot technical issues and resolve basic fixes quickly
  • Triage tickets to the helpdesk, prioritising them per urgency
  • Oversee school IT support, prioritising customer service excellence
  • Operate onsite for 3 days a week at a Nottingham-based school and remotely from the Midlands area for the remaining days
  • Willingness to travel is essential for this role.

Key Requirements:

  • Handle proactively incidents or changes allocated by a line manager
  • Maintain awareness of ongoing service delivery impact on operational workflows
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team
  • Monitor and report on incident reports
  • Document IT services to help local and remote teams

The Successful Person

  • Must have solid Level 2 IT experience and expertise in Microsoft technologies
  • Prior experience in technical support or service delivery within schools, academies, or multi-academy trusts (MATs)
  • Willing to learn any customised school software
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to follow instructions and document processes clearly
