IT Engineer (1st/2nd Line Support) – Full Time Vacancy
Location: Nottingham Job Family: IT Department (reporting to Group Digital & Development Director and IT Manager) Assignment Type: Full Time Experience Level: Low – Medium Travel Required: 5%
About the Role
This role is for an IT Engineer (1st/2nd Line Support) to provide technical support at both operational levels across CEMA Ltd.
Purpose of the Job
- Provide first and second-line technical support for IT systems, infrastructure, and end users via on-site and remote assistance.
- Diagnose, resolve, and escalate hardware, software, networking, and access-related incidents efficiently.
- Support deployment, maintenance, and lifecycle management of IT equipment, ensuring business continuity.
Primary Objectives
- Respond to, log, diagnose, and resolve IT incidents and service requests using the company’s IT ticketing system.
- Support and maintain:
- End-user computing environments
- Network connectivity
- Microsoft 365
- Virtualised systems Ensure compliance with company policies and security standards.

Key Responsibilities

First and Second-Line Support:
- Assist with logged IT-related incidents and service requests.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, application, and peripheral issues.
- Provide support for VPN connectivity and remote access problems.
- Attend to phone calls and face-to-face helpdesk enquiries.

Incident & Service Management:
- Log, prioritise, update, and resolve IT incidents via the ticketing system.

IT Infrastructure & Equipment:
- Install, configure, maintain, and decommission IT hardware.
- Coordinate delivery, returns, and asset tracking for IT equipment.
- Assist with document control and IT documentation.

- User Account & Access Support:
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access requests.

Make day-to-day IT support decisions, escalating complex issues as needed.
Working Environment
- Primarily office-based with occasional travel to other sites.
Essential Requirements
- Strong knowledge of:
- Windows Server
- Windows Operating Systems
- Microsoft 365
- Networking & Virtualisation
- Basic SQL
- Cybersecurity best practices
