About The Role

We are currently seeking a skilled IT Engineer to join a dynamic and expanding Infrastructure team within a Scottish-based organization. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to the company's technological growth and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the company's IT infrastructure, working on both project-based initiatives and routine support tasks. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement and optimize Microsoft technologies, including Office 365, Windows Server, VMware, and Azure, among others. This position is based in Aberdeen with a hybrid working model, offering a balance between office presence and remote work. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in systems and infrastructure support, with proven experience in managing and supporting enterprise IT environments. Essential qualifications include hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows Server, VMware virtualization, Office 365, and Active Directory. Familiarity with antivirus and internet security software, particularly Windows Defender for Endpoint, is also required. Candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently and within team settings, and a proactive approach to maintaining and improving IT systems. Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or similar credentials are advantageous but not mandatory. A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred but equivalent practical experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities

The IT Engineer will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of the organization’s IT infrastructure. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing second and third-line support for hardware, software, and network issues
  • Troubleshooting complex technical problems
  • Implementing solutions to prevent recurring issues
  • Managing and maintaining Windows Server environments, virtualized infrastructure via VMware, and cloud services through Azure
  • Assisting in the deployment and management of Office 365 applications, Active Directory, and security protocols to safeguard organizational data
  • Supporting endpoint security solutions and ensuring compliance with IT policies and standards
  • Participating in project planning and execution, including infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and new technology implementations
  • Regular documentation, reporting, and collaboration with other IT and business teams
