You will work closely with our Central IT Team and Cluster IT Managers to support the delivery of IT services across multiple schools within our community. This role offers real responsibility from day one and the opportunity to develop advanced technical, project management, and leadership skills while completing a degree apprenticeship.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Providing first-line and second-line technical support to staff and students
  • Managing and resolving helpdesk tickets in line with service standards
  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing IT hardware, software, and peripherals
  • Supporting Microsoft 365, Windows desktop environments, and cloud-based services
  • Assisting with network, server, and telephony troubleshooting
  • Supporting cybersecurity, safeguarding, and data protection compliance requirements
  • Maintaining IT asset registers, documentation, and inventories
  • Supporting SharePoint development and digital collaboration platforms
  • Assisting with project delivery, including infrastructure upgrades and technology rollouts
  • Monitoring and maintaining backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes
  • Working across multiple school sites, providing responsive and professional technical support
  • Supporting the implementation of Emmaus CAT's IT strategy and continuous improvement initiatives

What you'll learn

  • Analyse a business problem to identify the role of digital and technology solutions.
  • Identify risks, determine mitigation strategies and opportunities for improvement in a digital and technology solutions project.
  • Analyse a business problem in order to specify an appropriate digital and technology solution.
  • Initiate, design, code, test, and debug a software component for a digital and technology solution.
  • Apply relevant standard processes, methods, techniques, and tools. For example, ISO Standards, Waterfall, Agile in a digital and technology solution project.
  • Manage digital and technology solutions projects. For example, identifying and resolving deviations from specification, applying appropriate Project Management methodologies.
  • Work effectively within teams, leading on appropriate digital technology solution activities.
  • Apply relevant organisational theories. For example, change management principles, marketing approaches, strategic practice, and IT service management to a digital and technology solutions project.
  • Apply relevant security and resilience techniques to a digital and technology solution. For example, risk assessments, mitigation strategies.
  • Initiate, design, implement, and debug a data product for a digital and technology solution.
  • Determine and use appropriate data analysis techniques. For example, Text, Statistical, Diagnostic, or Predictive Analysis to assess a digital and technology solutions.
  • Plan, design, and manage simple computer networks with an overall focus on the services and capabilities that network infrastructure solutions enable in an organisational context.
  • Report effectively to colleagues and stakeholders using the appropriate language and style, to meet the needs of the audience concerned.
  • Research, investigate, and evaluate innovative technologies or approaches in the development of a digital and technology solution.
  • Apply relevant legal, ethical, social, and professional standards to a digital and technology solution.

Training schedule

This Professional Degree Apprenticeship is designed to produce future Digital and Technology Solutions Professionals and Leaders. It has been awarded the Tech Industry Gold Accreditation by TechSkills, an organisation that brings together employers and universities to create highly skilled digital graduates.

The Digital and Technology Solutions Professional Degree Apprenticeship blends online learning, face-to-face workshops, and on-the-job experience to transform learners into highly skilled tech professionals. The Degree Apprenticeship is available in four specialisms:

  • Network Engineer
  • Software Engineer
  • IT Consultant
  • Data Analyst

This programme develops core technical skills, knowledge, and behaviours for the development of innovative digital solutions. Further specialism modules offer opportunities to develop technical areas of relevance to the learners’ roles.

As part of their programme learners will complete:

  • Fourteen learning knowledge modules teaching theory and practical application. These are primarily taught online and are supported by classroom training workshops. Five modules are taught at level 4, five at level 5, and four at level 6.
  • Work-based portfolios & projects will be completed at work, over the course of the programme to demonstrate practical abilities.

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Entry requirements:

Standard entry requirements:

  • Full-time employment in a relevant role
  • Level 3 qualifications in STEM subjects (e.g., 2 A Levels, BTEC Diplomas, Apprenticeship, or equivalent)

Non-standard entry with work experience:

  • Relevant qualifications and/or work experience will be considered for applicants with potential to benefit from the programme.
  • You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance, you could still be considered for the programme.
  • If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application, you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
