IT Engineering Manager

The IT Engineering Manager is a pivotal role, leading engineering teams to ensure the secure, stable, and high-performing deployment of live business-critical services. You will provide strategic IT direction, foster accountability and continuous improvement, and bridge the gap between operational excellence and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
As the IT Engineering Manager, you will:
- Balance high-pressure operational demands with the delivery of transformation initiatives, ensuring operational enhancements enhance reliability, change management, and service maturity.
- Lead ITIL maturity improvement efforts, embedding consistent frameworks and practices across the department.
- ** Champion incident and issue governance**, driving measurable improvements in service performance, incidents, and problem solving.
- Drive cultural change: Coach and mentor engineers and leaders, setting clear role expectations and cultivating an environment where accountability and growth thrive.
- ** zs directional approach**: Evaluate current processes, identifying opportunities to optimise operations and team effectiveness with minimal disruption to BAU (business as usual).
- Take ownership of operational, delivery, and technical risks – ensuring compliance with stakeholder needs and industry standards.
- Collaborate seamlessly with architecture, security, and project teams to devise reliable, scalable, and supported solutions.
- Align IT strategy with broader business goals, while maintaining flexible responsiveness to evolving needs (e.g., regulatory changes, scaling demands).
- .clear communication bridge between technical teams, senior business leaders, and other stakeholders, translating complex data into actionable insights.
- Build high-performing, engaged teams: Foster a culture where individuals thrive, take corporate responsibility, and streamline each other’s work for optimal productivity.

Core Requirements
Your experience and skillset must align precisely with the challenges of this scalable, mission-critical environment. Ideal candidates will have:
Technical Foundation & Operational Expertise
- Significant experience as an IT Engineering Manager (or equivalent), leading large-scale enterprise engineering teams.
- Strong background covering both service operations and delivery, as well as programme and change management.
- Proven expertise in managing 24/7 high-availability technical systems, including in on-premise and cloud environments.
- Cross-discipline experience across technical domains, such as: End User Computing, Infrastructure, Unified Communications, Voice, and virtualisation technologies.
- Deep familiarity with ITIL or similar service management frameworks - practical application and continuous optimisation.
- A decision framework that balances speed, stability and risk in an ever-evolving environment.
Leadership & People Management
- Excellent technical leadership with people management experience, including direct oversight of multiple leaders and engineers.
- Strong ability to draft and align individual roles, building capability frameworks that drive both performance and growth.
- Conflict resolution and accountability at senior management levels: challenging teams and stakeholders constructively to challenge the status quo.
Strategic & Process Mindset
- Track record of managing demanding workloads while driving concurrent projects for operational enhancement.
- Exceptional organisational skills, able to manage reactive environments without sacrificing strategic focus.
- Process maturity improvements: Translate operational data into actionable insights to optimise reliability, incident management, and do change initiatives.
Day-to-Day Expectations
You will focus on high-impact priorities, including but not limited to:
Platform & Service Health Management
- Maintain health, resilience and performance of critical business platforms, aligning closely with evolving customer and market demands.
- Preserve day-to-day operational performance, availability and reliability of IT services, with minimal outages or degraded user experiences.
Incident & Problem Response
- Lead major incident response with urgency and efficiency – ensuring aligned and swift solutions to high-stakes incidents and security threats.
- Drive effective Incident Management, Problem Management, root cause analysis, and Change Management processes.

- Partner with architectures, security teams, and project functions to validate and implement fit-for-purpose and supported solutions.
- Classify and mitigating technical risks and vulnerabilities, while keeping the business ahead of regulatory compliance.

- Balance operational resilience with controlled change delivery, ensuring engineering and delivery improvements align with business goals without incurring stability risks.
- Break down siloed working by fostering cross-team collaboration and optimizing workflows.

- Mentee your direct reports in skill development through structured performance evaluations, daring targeted succession planning and recruitment.
- Encourage accountability and autonomy that empowers teams to tackle complex technical and operational challenges.
Key Stakeholders

- Technology leadership CEOs and Product Head
- Senior Security and Global Operations teams
- Business stakeholders, including Regional and Commercial Leaders, and Lines of Responsibility

Minimum Qualifications
- At least 10 years’ experience in IT Operations Management; 굴t dormant
- Proven success managing cross-functional teams and org, navigurgorn,
- Emerge/-performance techniques to an ITIL level-plus environment.
- Stream management expertise, card evaluations with readership decisions for 24/7 systems.
