IT Field Engineer
IT Field Engineer - Salary up to £37,500
We are looking for a practical, organised and customer-focused IT Field Engineer to join our growing IT Department.
Excelcare is a privately owned care provider with 31 care and nursing homes, a homecare division, and several expanding businesses. We support over 3,500 users across multiple locations.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys:

Daily Responsibilities
As an IT Field Engineer, your role will involve visiting sites across:
- London
- Essex
- Milton Keynes
- Cambridge
- Surrounding areas
You will provide IT installations, upgrades, and support across care homes, offices, and operational sites. No two days are the same—tasks can include:
Headquartered at our Support Office in Bromley, Kent, your working hours are 9:00am - 5:30pm, Monday - Friday.
Key responsibilities include:
Installations & Maintenance
- Travelling to sites using a company pool vehicle to deliver IT equipment and infrastructure hardware
- Installing and supporting:
- Switches
- Wireless access points
- Routers
- Associated network equipment
- Assisting with Meraki, DrayTek, and Starlink installations following company standards
- Configuring and deploying:
- Laptops
- Desktops
- Printers
- Mobile devices
- Maintaining and installing:
- Structured cabling
- Patch panels
- Network cabinets

Support & Documentation
- Providing onsite IT support when remote solutions aren’t suitable
- Taking site photographs and maintaining installation records
- Producing simple rack layouts, cabinet diagrams, and equipment location drawings
- Keeping Freshservice ticketing system updated
- Assisting with site relocations, equipment moves, and new site setups
Office & Scalability Tasks
- Completing preparation of equipment
- Supporting stock control activities on-site
- Escalating complex issues to senior engineers when needed

About You
To succeed in this role, you must meet the following essential criteria:
- Full UK driving license (essential)
- 1–3 years’ experience in IT support, field engineering, or technical support
- Practical hands-on approach with building, configuring, and troubleshooting technology
- Experience with:
- Installing/supporting network equipment (switches, routers, WiFi – access points)
- Microsoft 365 and Windows 11
- CAT5e / CAT6 structured cabling
- Maintaining technical documentation and records
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and customer service
- Organised with great time management skills
- Attention to detail and attention to company records
