Job Introduction
IT Infrastructure Engineer
Fixed Term Contract - 9 Months
Location: Grange Park, Northampton

We are looking for an IT Infrastructure Engineer. Reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager you will work within a newly formed team and a huge opportunity to nurture existing technical skills. You will have a wide scope of general IT infrastructure skills and experience in the pursuit of delivering a high standard of work to both the user communities and change projects.
Working closely with the IT Infrastructure Manager in the delivery of projects and system changes, you will have practical experience of the deployment, configuration and maintenance of a broad range of diverse technologies with a focus on providing proactive and effective system and user support.
This role demands excellent technical skills with the ability to support, maintain and operate systems. You will work as part of a team but with the ability to take responsibility and accountability for independent work packages. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to get involved in projects and innovate whilst running all day to day support activities.

What You'll Be Doing
- Assist in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of physical and virtual servers.
- Monitor core infrastructure (e.g., firewalls, switches, storage, backups) and respond to alerts.
- Maintain and support Microsoft 365 tenant, Azure AD, and Exchange Online components.
- Conduct routine tasks such as VM creation, firmware upgrades, patching, and data backups.
- Participate in project rollouts including new site/acquisition setup, infrastructure upgrades, and migrations.
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery processes, including testing.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure-related issues and escalate as needed.
- Work collaboratively with 3rd party vendors and internal stakeholders to support infrastructure requirements.
- Contribute to documentation and maintain asset/configuration records.
- Uphold system security standards and contribute to policy compliance (e.g., password policy, patching, device control).
- Support wider IT team initiatives when required.
What We're Looking For
Infrastructure Knowledge:
- VMware/Hyper-V virtualization platforms
- Microsoft 365 Management
- Windows Server environments (AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy)
- Network fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, NAT, VPNs)
- Firewalls (Barracuda, Fortinet, or similar) - Creation & Setups
- Backup and recovery tools (e.g., Veeam, Syncrify)
- NAS/SAN storage systems
- Scripting experience (PowerShell/Python desirable)
- Testing DR
- NoTouch Changes/Setups
- SaaS
- Subnet Mask
- Cloud delivery models
- Protocols & Ports

Desirable
- Azure AD, Intune, Endpoint Manager
- Working knowledge of VoIP (e.g., Avaya IP Office)
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., SNMP, RMM)
