Outline of Role
We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded IT Manager to lead and optimise our IT service delivery, supplier management, technology governance, and cyber security framework. Based in Castleford and reporting to the Head of Project Support, you will play a key role in ensuring our technology services are secure, cost-effective, high-performing, and aligned with business objectives.
This role is responsible for managing third-party IT suppliers and significant IT spend, driving continuous improvement across service delivery, and developing technology strategies that support business growth and transformation.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead the management of external IT suppliers, contracts, licensing agreements, and technology partners.
- Manage and optimise IT expenditure, ensuring value for money and effective supplier performance.
- Review and challenge technical proposals, quotations, and recommended solutions.
- Oversee service desk performance, identifying trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Define and monitor IT service metrics, ensuring agreed service levels are achieved.
- Develop and implement the organisation's IT strategy and technology roadmap.
- Own IT security governance, risk management, vulnerability management, and policy compliance.
- Lead investigations and remediation activities relating to IT incidents and security risks.
- Develop and maintain effective IT asset management processes, including lifecycle and hardware refresh programmes.
- Support business transformation initiatives and system implementation projects.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on technology architecture and solution design.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the business to ensure technology supports operational efficiency and future growth.

Knowledge And Experience Required
- Strong experience in IT management, service delivery, and supplier management within a senior IT role.
- Proven experience managing third-party suppliers, contracts, and commercial relationships.
- Experience overseeing IT budgets and delivering cost-saving initiatives.
- Sound understanding of IT service management principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of cyber security, risk management, governance, and compliance practices.
- Experience developing and implementing IT strategies and technology roadmaps.
- Understanding of IT asset management and lifecycle management processes.
- Experience analysing service performance data and driving service improvements.
- Desirable knowledge of cyber security frameworks such as ISO 27001 or Cyber Essentials.
- Experience supporting business change, transformation programmes, and technology projects is advantageous.

- Commercial awareness with experience of contract negotiation and procurement.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical information into business-focused outcomes.

- Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing improvement initiatives.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and make effective decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable working across a broad range of IT disciplines.
- Ability to build positive working relationships at all levels of the organisation.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
