# IT Systems & Support Engineer (Digital Infrastructure)
The Role
We’re looking for a proactive and experienced IT professional to join our dynamic IT team in a hybrid role supporting systems administration, infrastructure, and project improvement initiatives.
Reporting to the Head of IT, you’ll play a critical role in maintaining and evolving our modern IT environment, covering:
- Core networking
- Servers & cloud services
- Identity & access management
- Endpoint device management
- Cyber security
You’ll work with technologies like Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra, Intune, Windows Server, VMware virtualisation, and enterprise networking, balancing day-to-day support, project delivery, and continuous improvement.
This is a fast-paced, dynamic role ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, collaborating across teams, and contributing to IT innovation. You’ll have the opportunity to broaden your skills across infrastructure, cloud, security, and end-user technology.
Key Responsibilities

Supporting and maintaining core IT infrastructure including:
- Servers
- Networking (LAN, WAN, wireless)
- Firewalls
- Backup platforms
- Cloud-connected services

Administering Microsoft 365 services, including:
- Microsoft Entra (previously Azure AD)
- Exchange Online
- Identity & access management
- Collaboration platforms

Managing endpoint compliance using:
- Microsoft Intune
- Modern device management

Acting as the technical point of contact for IT support, resolving user issues proactively to prevent outages.

Proactive system monitoring, improving resilience, and pre-empting potential failures.

Designing, implementing, and supporting:
- Network solutions (VPNs, secure remote access)
- IT projects, upgrades, and migrations

Applying security best practices across:
- Identity controls
- Device patching
- Access governance

Identifying areas for process improvement, including:
- Automation
- User experience

Creating and maintaining:
- Technical documentation
- Support procedures
- User guides

Providing user training to improve adoption of business systems.

Contributing to an on-call rota (approx. 1 week in 5) for critical incidents.
Public Requirements
Core Skills & Experience
-
3–5 years’ experience in infrastructure, systems administration, or technical support.

Strong hands-on expertise in:
- Microsoft technologies (Exchange, Azure AD, Intune)
- Networking (local/remote, wireless, VPN)
- Endpoint management (Windows, Active Directory)
- Security administration

Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

Technical communicator—able to simplify complex concepts for non-technical colleagues.

Customer-focused approach to deliver high-quality, reliable IT services.

Priority management and calm confidence in fast-paced environments.

Technical Proficiencies (Essential)
Experience in: ✔ Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive) ✔ Microsoft Entra (IAM, conditional access) ✔ Microsoft Intune (Endpoint compliance, configuration) ✔ Windows Server (2019+) (Active Directory, Group Policy) ✔ VMware virtualisation (or alternative hypervisors) ✔ Cisco networking (switches, VLANs, wireless) ✔ FortiGate firewall (or similar) ✔ Endpoint security & backup tools ✔ Printer/peripherals support
(Nice to have: Automation, PowerShell, cloud migrations, line-of-business systems.)
