IT Operations Manager (3 Month Initial Contract)
Location
Hybrid - Scotland (Home-based with travel to client sites in Glasgow or Edinburgh approximately once per week)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive IT Operations Manager to join our client and support the delivery of high-quality IT operational service. This contract role has a strong focus on IT asset management, remediation projects, supplier management, and continuous service improvement.
The successful candidate will take ownership of operational initiatives, ensuring robust asset management processes are in place, drive remediation activities to completion, and manage key supplier relationships. The role requires regular engagement with client stakeholders and travel to client sites in Glasgow or Edinburgh, typically one day per week.
Key Responsibilities
IT Operations
- Oversee day-to-day operational activities, ensuring services are delivered in line with agreed standards and best practices.
- Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities for service improvement.
- Develop and maintain operational documentation, processes, and procedures.
- Support incident, problem, and change management activities aligned with ITIL principles.
- Produce regular operational reports and performance metrics for internal teams and client stakeholders.

IT Asset Management
- Lead and improve the IT Asset Management (ITAM) process across client environments.
- Manage the complete lifecycle of IT assets, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and secure disposal.
- Ensure asset registers and configuration data remain accurate and up to date.
- Oversee software licence compliance and identify opportunities for optimisation and cost savings.
- Coordinate regular asset audits and ensure compliance with governance requirements.
Remediation Projects
- Lead and coordinate remediation projects arising from audits, vulnerability assessments, operational reviews, or compliance activities.
- Develop remediation plans, monitor progress, and manage risks and dependencies.
- Work closely with technical teams and suppliers to ensure remediation actions are completed on time.
- Provide regular status updates and reporting to client stakeholders and senior management.
Supplier Management
- Manage relationships with third-party suppliers and service providers.
- Monitor supplier performance against agreed service levels and contractual commitments.
- Coordinate supplier activities during operational incidents and project delivery.
- Lead supplier review meetings and drive continuous service improvement.
- Escalate supplier performance issues where required and support contract management activities.

Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience as an IT Operations Manager, Service Delivery Manager, or similar operational leadership role.
- Strong experience managing IT Asset Management processes and asset lifecycle governance.
- Experience leading remediation programmes and operational improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrable supplier and vendor management experience.
- Good understanding of ITIL service management principles.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong organisational, planning, and reporting capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel to client sites in Glasgow or Edinburgh on a weekly basis.
Desirable
- ITIL Foundation (or equivalent).
- Experience with ITSM/ITAM platforms such as ServiceNow, HaloITSM, ManageEngine, or Jira Service Management.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure, and endpoint management technologies.
- Experience supporting ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, or similar governance.
