Programme Manager - 12 month contract - £695pd (inside IR35)

We are currently partnered with a leading international law firm to recruit for a Programme Manager.

This is an Inside IR35 contract paying up to £695 per day with an initial 12-month term, based in London, Birmingham or Cardiff. The role sits within a business-facing IT/project delivery function and will focus on delivering a portfolio of high-profile change initiatives across core business systems.

The role

This position will suit a hands-on Programme Manager or Senior Project Manager who is comfortable leading delivery while also providing oversight, governance and coaching to other PMs where needed.

You will be responsible for:

  • Delivering multiple concurrent IT and business systems projects across the full lifecycle, including planning, design, supplier onboarding, build, test, deployment and handover.
  • Managing project governance, risks, issues, dependencies, budgets, timelines and stakeholder communications.
  • Overseeing third-party suppliers and internal delivery teams, including contract PMs, BAs and other cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Supporting operational excellence and ensuring projects are delivered in line with established governance standards.
  • Leading software and application-focused change initiatives, including upgrades, implementations and enhancements across a varied pipeline of business systems.

Project scope

The pipeline includes a range of software and applications-based projects, such as:

  • Time recording
  • CRM replacement
  • Desk booking / Outlook integration
  • HR systems including SAP SuccessFactors and rewards & benefits
  • Finance transformation including SAP S/4HANA
  • Intapp
  • Microsoft suite
  • Power BI

What they are looking for

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Strong experience delivering software/application upgrades, implementations and improvements
  • A proven track record in programme, portfolio or senior project management
  • Experience working across full project lifecycles / SDLC
  • Strong governance, RAID, planning and budgeting capability.
  • Experience managing suppliers and working across both Agile and Waterfall environments.
  • The ability to engage senior stakeholders and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Prior experience within professional services such as legal, accountancy, insurance or financial services

Required background

  • 5+ years delivering application and infrastructure-related change projects.
  • 3+ years in a Programme Manager / Portfolio Manager capacity, or operating at a comparable senior project level.
  • PRINCE2, APM Practitioner or equivalent.
  • Previous people leadership / line management experience is advantageous.
