Job Title: IT Project Manager

Client Overview: Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in West Lothian, is currently looking to recruit an IT Project Manager.

Contract Details:

  • Initial 3-month contract
  • Option to extend
  • Rate: £500/day (Inside IR35)
  • Hybrid working

Responsibilities:

  • Work on a number of IT projects within the IT project portfolio.
  • Projects can vary in size and complexity, from technical IT nature to business focused.
  • Projects may be assigned from initiation or in-flight.
  • The Project Manager must:
    • Ascertain the current status using available project documentation.
    • Liaise with key stakeholders, including the Project team and IT resources, to progress the project to successful delivery.
  • Work closely with 3rd party suppliers from a technical and project management perspective to ensure successful management and delivery of projects.
  • Projects may have access to full-time and/or part-time project resources including IT and business resources.
  • Collaborate with other Project Managers within IT Services to deliver their assigned projects in conjunction with the wider portfolio of IT projects.

Essential Skills:

  • Educated to degree level in an IT discipline or equivalent experience.
  • PRINCE2 foundation certificate or above.
  • Experience in the application and management of projects based on PRINCE II methodology.
  • Significant experience (> 5 years) as a Project Manager delivering complex projects.
  • Experience, as a Project Manager, in taking on projects midway through to successful delivery.
  • Experienced facilitator with demonstrable ability to engage with a range of stakeholder groups and elicit relevant information to feed into, and ensure, successful project delivery.
  • Experience in delivering IT projects across a broad range of technology platforms.
  • Experience in matrix resource management.
  • Experience in developing strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience in producing written reports and conducting presentations of a technical project nature.
  • Experience in contributing to team activities and tasks.
  • Supplier management and ICT procurement experience ideally in a public sector environment.
  • Strong customer focus.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and prioritise work for self.
  • Comprehensive analytical skills to comprehend complex reports or financial or statistical information.
  • Ability to produce meaningful and concise written reports.
  • Knowledge and application of ITIL.

Desirable Skills:

  • ITIL v2 or v3 Foundation certificate or above.
  • Knowledge of IT Service Continuity procedures.
  • Knowledge of COBIT control objectives, FOI and Data Protection Legislation.
  • Experience in delivering Electronic Document Record Management projects.
