The Role
An exciting opportunity exists within our UK Information Technology team for a Technical Project Manager – Core Platforms.
This leading role is accountable for the end-to-end delivery of Infrastructure, Network, and Service Delivery projects across DP World UK. It ensures technical solutions are successfully executed in alignment with business, operational, and security requirements.
The Technical Project Manager – Core Platforms oversees projects through discovery, requirements definition, planning, design, implementation, and post-deployment stabilisation. Working closely with engineering teams, operational stakeholders, and external suppliers, the role supports 24/7 terminal operations across DP World London Gateway and DP World Southampton.
The position is based at DP World London Gateway, with regular travel required to DP World Southampton.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery

Lead end-to-end delivery of Infrastructure, Network, and Service Delivery projects, ensuring timely completion of scope, timelines, budget, and quality targets.

Handle complex IT projects, including:
- Network modernisation
- Switching and routing upgrades
- Fibre expansion
- Wireless infrastructure upgrades
- Firewall replacements
- Remote connectivity
- Data centre upgrades
- End-user service improvements

Manage the full project lifecycle, including:
- Initiation
- Requirements gathering
- Planning and design
- Execution
- Testing
- Deployment
- Hypercare
- Operational handover
Governance & Compliance
- Develop and maintain project governance documentation, covering delivery plans, RAID logs, risk assessments, test strategies, cutover plans, and transition-to-support artefacts.
- Ensure compliance with governance processes, securing approvals for:
- Technical design
- Cybersecurity
- Testing
- Operational readiness

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

Coordinate with Infrastructure, Network Engineering, Service Delivery, Cyber Security, and Operational Technology teams to meet resilience, performance, and availability requirements.

Supervise *IT infrastructure and network technologies, including:
- LAN/WAN
- Routing
- Switching
- VLANs
- Wi-Fi
- VPNs
- Firewalls
- Fibre infrastructure
- High-availability design principles

Manage scope, timelines, and dependencies, while controlling change requests and escalating risks with clear solutions.
Supplier & Reporting Management
- Lead relationships with third-party suppliers and service providers, ensuring commitment alignment, contractual fulfilment, and service level adherence.
- Provide regular project updates to sponsors and senior stakeholders, including progress, risks, and business impacts.
- Facilitate:
- Project workshops
- Design reviews
- Deployment readiness sessions
- Stakeholder forums to ensure momentum
Security & Operational Readiness
- Support secure-by-design principles, working with Cyber Security teams on:
- Vulnerability assessment
- Access controls
- Software patching
- Security standards adherence
- Coordinate user acceptance testing, performance testing, failover testing, and operational readiness activities before go-live.
Strategic Contributions
- Support the UK’s role in regional and global technology initiatives, aligning local sites with wider infrastructure and platform deployment programs.
Requirements & Qualifications
Essential Experience
- Engineering-in*
School, or Logistics, industries.
- Project governance skills, including:
- Delivery plan creation
- Risk and issue log management
- Test planning
- Cutover documentation
- Stakeholder engagement with technical and non-technical teams.
- Problem-solving, risk appraisal, and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to influence stakeholders, forge cross-team relationships, and drive delivery outcomes.

Advantageous:
- Experience working within 24/7 operational, logistics, or industrial environments.
Education & Certifications
- Degree, or Diploma, in IT, networking, infrastructure, computing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Project management certification preferred (for example, PRINCE2, APM, AgilePM, PMP, PMBOK, or comparable credentials).
- ITIL Foundation qualification is beneficial.
- Industry-specific certifications, such as Cisco, CompTIA Network+, or Azure Fundamentals, would add value.
