A fast-growing UK ophthalmology group, one of the largest independent providers of NHS eye care, is expanding its Business Improvement function at a pivotal time for the business.

The group now operates from over 70 sites nationally and has recently rolled out AI-designed technology and remote diagnostic tools that let specialists assess patients without them needing to travel.

It's also automating patient bookings and building AI capability into its call handling, all part of a wider push to cut NHS waiting times while improving the patient experience.

This is a genuinely exciting time to join: the business has been recognised as a Great Place to Work for wellbeing, development, and healthcare, and posted an average patient satisfaction score of 92, a figure considered exceptional in healthcare.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

As the group scales its use of technology across theatres, diagnostics, and patient contact, it needs a Project Manager to help lead that transformation agenda from the front.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Business Improvement, you'll lead cross-functional teams, keep projects on time and within budget, and use Prince 2 and/or Agile methods depending on the project.

What you'll be doing

  • Developing and maintaining project plans, schedules, and budgets, reporting progress to stakeholders
  • Identifying and documenting risks and issues, escalating where needed
  • Coordinating project teams, making sure everyone understands their role and follow-up actions
  • Facilitating meetings and workshops with subject matter experts and stakeholders
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvement and supporting business process mapping
  • Managing project documentation and version control throughout the project lifecycle
  • Building strong working relationships across the business
