IT Project manager
CRITICAL TECHNICAL PROJECT MANAGER – CORE PLATFORMS
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our UK Information Technology team for a Technical Project Manager – Core Platforms.
The Role This senior project management position ensures the end-to-end delivery of Infrastructure, Network and Service Delivery projects across DP World UK, adhering to technical, business, operational, and security requirements. The role oversees projects from discovery and requirements definition, through planning, design, implementation, and post-deployment stabilisation.
You will work closely with engineering teams, operational stakeholders, and external suppliers to deliver resilient and secure technology platforms supporting 24/7 terminal operations at DP World London Gateway and DP World Southampton.
Location & Travel
- Primarily Based: DP World Southampton
- Regular Travel: DP World Stanford le Hope to align delivery efforts across UK terminals.
How You Will Contribute
Project Delivery & Governance
- Lead end-to-end delivery of Infrastructure, Network, and Service Delivery projects, ensuring alignment with scope, timeline, budget, and quality standards.
- Manage projects including:
- Network modernisation
- Switching and routing upgrades
- Fibre expansion
- Wireless infrastructure deployment
- Firewall replacements
- Remote connectivity enhancements
- Data centre upgrades
- End-user service improvements
- Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from initiation and requirements gathering to design sign-off, execution, testing, deployment, hypercare, and operational handover.
- Develop and maintain project governance documentation, including:
- Delivery plans
- RAID logs (Risk, Action, Issue, Decision logs)
- Risk assessments
- Test strategies
- Cutover plans
- Transition-to-support artefacts
Collaboration & Risk Management
- Align technical solutions with resilience, performance, and availability requirements in collaboration with:
- Infrastructure Engineering
- Network Engineering
- Service Delivery
- Cyber Security
- Operational Technology
- Manually manage project scope, schedules, dependencies, and change requests, escalating risks with clear recommendations and mitigation plans.

Security & Compliance
- Embed secure-by-design delivery principles, partners with Cyber Security teams on:
- Vulnerability mitigation
- Access controls
- Patching requirements
- Security standards compliance
Testing & Readiness
- Lead user acceptance testing (UAT), performance testing, failover testing, and operational readiness review prior to go-live.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate third-party suppliers to ensure adherence to:
- Delivery commitments
- Contractual obligations
- Service-level agreements (SLAs)
Reporting & Communication

Provide regular project updates to sponsors and senior stakeholders, detailing:
- Progress
- Risks
- Key decisions
- Business impacts

Facilitate project workshops, including:
- Design reviews
- Deployment readiness meetings
- Stakeholder forums

Support UK participation in regional and global technology initiatives, ensuring alignment across infrastructure programs.
What You Will Bring
Core Experience & Skills
-
Proven expertise in delivering IT Infrastructure, Network, or Service Delivery projects within complex, technical environments.

Full-cycle project management, including:
- Initiation and planning
- Implementation and testing
- Operational handover

Technical knowledge of core infrastructure and networking:
- LAN/WAN
- Routing and switching
- VLANs
- Wi-Fi, VPNs, firewalls
- Fibre infrastructure
- High-availability design

Work experience with:
- Technical engineering teams
- Suppliers and external vendors
- Business stakeholders to deliver operational outcomes

Disaster recovery and resilience planning understanding

Experience working in 24/7 availability environments (e.g. operational/logistics/industrial).

Strong project governance skills, including:
- Delivery plan development
- Risk and issue log maintenance
- Test plan and cutover documentation

Stakeholder management and communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Strong analytical capabilities, solving issues with a structured risk management approach.

Qualifications
- ** Degree or diploma in IT, Networking, Infrastructure, Computing, or a related discipline—or equivalent practical experience.
Certifications (Highly Desirable)
- Project Management certifications:
- PRINCE2
- APM (Association for Project Management)
- AgilePM
- PMP (Project Management Professional)
- PMBOK (Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge)
- ITIL Foundation (IT Infrastructure Library) certification.
- Vendor/technology certifications (advantageous):
- Cisco (CCNA/CCNP)
- CompTIA Network+
- Azure Fundamentals
