Department: IT

Location: Chesterfield

Compensation: £80 - £100 / year

Description

SolidCor is on a mission to make volume fire door replacement possible within days — enabling the industry to rapidly achieve compliance and community safety in every building. Born out of the urgent need for change following the Grenfell disaster, we have built the fastest production times in the industry and the widest range of primary-tested fire door configurations. We are growing fast and we are looking for A-players to help us get there.

We are passionate about getting things right and obsessed with quality. Our products are safety critical — when a fire door fails, the consequences are real. Technology sits at the heart of how we run the factory and how we grow — from the systems on the shop floor to the software our teams build in-house.

We are looking for an IT Project Manager to take ownership of both: running SolidCor’s IT operations and leading the delivery of our software development projects. This is a genuinely dual role. One half is hands-on site IT — keeping people, hardware and production systems running smoothly and securely. The other half is delivery leadership: owning the roadmap and delivery of our custom platforms, chief among them SolidCORE, our factory management platform.

You will work closely with our lead developer to keep releases on track, translate factory and operational needs into prioritised development work, and make sure what we build actually lands on the shop floor. If you like the mix of practical IT and driving real software delivery in a fast moving manufacturing business, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of SolidCor’s software development projects end-to-end — requirements, scope, project/sprint planning, milestones, budgets and risk/issue management.
  • Own delivery of SolidCORE, our factory management platform, working closely with the lead developer to keep releases on track and aligned to factory priorities.
  • Coordinate the wider development portfolio (including the Argonaut field-survey app) and manage developers and contractors, owning the backlog and translating operational needs into clear, prioritised work.
  • Drive integrations between production systems, ERP and Group platforms (Salesforce, Power BI, Unleashed), working closely with Group IT and external suppliers.
  • Report delivery progress, risks and forecasts to the IT Director and SolidCor leadership.
  • Own day-to-day IT operations across the Chesterfield site — networks, devices, user access and connectivity.
  • Oversee setup and maintenance of laptops, tablets and production hardware, and diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues quickly and effectively.
  • Manage IT procurement, installation and maintenance of new or replacement equipment, and monitor network performance and backup systems.
  • Take the lead on cyber security compliance (Cyber Essentials / Cyber Essentials Plus) for the site.
  • Triage and resolve incidents via the ticketing system, escalating to Group IT where appropriate, and identify bottlenecks and propose practical, cost-effective improvements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This is a chance to own the full technology stack at one of the UK’s most exciting fire door manufacturers — running both the site IT and the software platforms that power the factory floor, with direct access to the IT Director and the autonomy to make a real difference. At SolidCor, we ask a lot — and we give a lot back. The hours are real, the standards are high and the work is demanding, but for those who show up, deliver and go the extra mile, the rewards follow. A-players here enjoy a competitive salary, a performance bonus tied to successful on-time delivery against roadmap milestones and delivery KPIs, a Personal Development Plan with ongoing training and mentoring, unlimited holiday, private healthcare insurance, enhanced maternity and paternity, lunch, snacks and refreshments on us every day (fresh fruit and Takeaway Friday included), a team social budget, cycle to work, an auto-enrolment pension, two major company events a year and our Reward and Recognition scheme — including European mini-breaks for those who go above and beyond.
