IT Project Manager - Systems
DP World in the UK is at the heart of Britain’s trading future, providing world class port infrastructure, smart logistics solutions and the benefits of freeport status to our customers.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our UK Information Technology team for a Technical Project Manager – Core Systems. This role is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of Cybersecurity, Core Systems and Software Development projects across DP World UK, ensuring secure, resilient and operationally sound technology solutions that support critical terminal operations.
The Technical Project Manager – Core Systems leads initiatives from discovery and requirements definition through planning, design, implementation and post-deployment stabilisation. Working closely with engineering teams, operational stakeholders and external suppliers, the role plays a vital part in delivering secure and scalable technology solutions while driving continuous improvement across cybersecurity, core business systems and software applications.
The position may be based at either DP World London Gateway (Stanford le Hope) or DP World Southampton, with regular travel required between both terminals to support delivery and alignment across the UK business.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of Cybersecurity, Core Systems and Software Development projects, ensuring successful implementation against agreed scope, timeline, budget and quality targets.
- Deliver projects involving cybersecurity enhancements, secure application development, identity and access management, vulnerability remediation, core system upgrades and software solutions that improve operational efficiency and resilience.
- Manage the full project lifecycle, including initiation, requirements gathering, planning, design sign-off, execution, testing, deployment, hypercare and operational handover.
- Develop and maintain project governance documentation including delivery plans, RAID logs, risk assessments, test strategies, cutover plans and transition-to-support artefacts.
- Ensure all projects follow established governance processes and achieve the required approvals relating to technical design, security compliance, testing and operational readiness.
- Manage project scope, schedules, dependencies and change requests, escalating risks and delivery challenges with clear recommendations and mitigation plans.
- Coordinate closely with Cybersecurity, Core Systems, Software Development and Operational Technology teams to ensure solutions meet security, resilience and performance requirements.
- Drive delivery against schedule, cost and technical quality targets, identifying and resolving blockers to maintain project momentum.
- Manage user acceptance testing, performance testing, security testing and failover testing to ensure successful deployment and operational stability.
- Support secure-by-design delivery principles, working with Cyber Security teams to address vulnerabilities, patching requirements, access controls and security standards.
- Conduct supplier evaluations, support RFP and RFI processes and review technical architecture proposals to ensure solutions meet business requirements.
- Manage post-implementation support, business-as-usual transition activities and issue resolution during hypercare periods.
- Lead relationships with third-party suppliers, software vendors and service providers, ensuring contractual obligations and service levels are effectively managed.
- Provide regular project reporting and status updates to sponsors and senior stakeholders, highlighting progress, risks, decisions and business impacts.
- Facilitate project workshops, risk reviews, design approvals and deployment readiness meetings to support successful project outcomes.
- Support UK participation in regional and global cybersecurity, software and systems initiatives where local sites form part of broader transformation programmes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
