Location: This role will initially be based in Bradford but we’re moving our office to Leeds Valley Park in summer 2026, so you’ll be based there in the future - Hybrid Working (1-2 days in the office a week – Bradford/Leeds)

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday

We have a number of exciting opportunities for an IT SAP Project Manager to join the Project Management team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

The Project Management team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.

The IT SAP Project Manager leads the successful delivery of complex projects, with accountability for governance, budgets, risks, quality, resources, stakeholders, and benefits realisation. The role requires strong strategic thinking, effective decision-making, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders to ensure projects deliver sustainable value and positive outcomes for Yorkshire Water, its customers, and colleagues. The IT SAP Project Manager is responsible for leading the successful delivery of complex SAP programmes and projects across Yorkshire Water's SAP landscape, including SAP HR, SuccessFactors, SAP Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, and future SAP transformation initiatives. The role is accountable for project governance, budgets, risks, quality, resource management, vendor management, stakeholder engagement, and benefits realisation. Working closely with business leaders, SAP functional teams, delivery partners and technology teams, the successful candidate will drive strategic SAP change that delivers measurable benefits for Yorkshire Water, its customers and colleagues. The role requires exceptional leadership, commercial awareness, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders while ensuring projects are delivered safely, compliantly, on time and within budget.

Where you fit in:

As our IT SAP Project Manager, you will:

  • Lead end-to-end SAP project and programme delivery across SAP HR, SuccessFactors, S/4HANA, Finance, Procurement and Corporate Services platforms.
  • Manage delivery through all project lifecycle phases including business case, design, build, testing, deployment, cutover, hypercare and benefits realisation.
  • Lead SAP transformation initiatives, ensuring alignment with Yorkshire Water strategic objectives and technology roadmaps.
  • Establish and maintain robust SAP governance, project controls, RAID management and reporting processes.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, capital expenditure and financial performance.
  • Provide commercial oversight of SAP implementation partners, system integrators and third-party suppliers.
  • Ensure successful integration across SAP modules, business processes, technical teams and external suppliers.
  • Lead SAP cutover planning, deployment activities and transition into operational support.
  • Identify, assess and manage project risks, dependencies and issues across complex SAP delivery environments.
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, business process owners and executive sponsors.
  • Drive decision making through investment boards, steering committees and governance forums.
  • Ensure SAP solutions deliver agreed business outcomes, operational improvements and return on investment.
  • Champion SAP delivery best practice, continuous improvement and lessons learned across the portfolio.

Key SAP Responsibilities

SAP Programme and Project Leadership

  • Deliver large-scale SAP projects and programmes from initiation through to closure.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary SAP delivery teams including Functional Consultants, Solution Architects, Technical Leads, Testing Managers and Change Managers.
  • Drive successful SAP implementations, upgrades, migrations and optimisation initiatives.
  • Lead SAP vendor and partner management activities.

SAP Governance and Assurance

  • Maintain project governance frameworks aligned to Yorkshire Water delivery standards.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting on project health, finances, risks and milestones.
  • Ensure compliance with architecture, security, audit and change requirements.
  • Lead project stage gates and investment approval activities.

Business Change and Benefits Realisation

  • Ensure SAP solutions align with business objectives and approved business cases.
  • Define, measure and track benefits throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support organisational change activities to maximise user adoption and business value.
  • Drive process improvement and operational efficiencies through SAP-enabled transformation.

Financial Management

  • Manage SAP project budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor capital and operational expenditure.
  • Ensure delivery remains within approved funding envelopes.
  • Provide financial insight and recommendations to support investment decisions.

What skills & qualifications you will need:

  • Significant experience delivering SAP projects and programmes in complex enterprise environments.
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner, MSP Practitioner or equivalent.
  • Experience delivering projects across SAP HR, SuccessFactors, ECC6, S/4HANA or related SAP platforms.
  • Proven experience managing large project budgets, forecasts and financial controls.
  • Strong governance, risk management and project assurance experience.
  • Experience managing system integrators and SAP delivery partners.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leadership teams.
  • Experience leading virtual and multi-disciplinary delivery teams.
  • Demonstrable track record delivering business value and benefits through SAP transformation programmes.
