About Paul Smith
Paul Smith is one of Britain’s leading independent design companies, driven by a spirit of curiosity, playfulness, adaptability and passion. These values shape every aspect of the brand, whether it’s a shirt, a shop or a special collaboration. Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced IT Security Specialist. You'll take ownership for our cybersecurity strategy end-to-end, from defining policy and architecture to hands-on incident response, acting as the primary security interface for external partners.
You will play a critical role in building a security-conscious culture throughout the organisation (retail stores, warehouse operations and head offices), ensuring that colleagues at every level understand their responsibilities and the part they play in keeping our business safe.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop and deliver Paul Smith's cybersecurity strategy, policies and roadmap, ensuring security supports business objectives.
- Manage cyber risk, compliance and governance, including GDPR, Business Continuity and Incident Response planning.
- Monitor, investigate and respond to security incidents, maintaining robust security controls across infrastructure, cloud services, applications and identity management.
- Lead vulnerability management and penetration testing programmes, driving continuous improvement of our security posture.
- Build strong relationships with managed security providers, technology partners, auditors and third-party suppliers.
- Champion a security-first culture by delivering engaging awareness programmes and providing expert guidance to colleagues across retail, warehouse and head office teams.
- Provide security expertise throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring new technologies and business initiatives are secure by design.
- Stay ahead of the evolving threat landscape, supporting audits, recommending improvements and driving best practice across the organisation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
