IT Support Apprentice
Baker Heath is looking for a full-time software support apprentice to join their team. Baker Heath is a leading UK dental software supplier.
Requirements
- GCSEs in 5 subjects including English and Maths (grade A*- C / 9-4 or equivalent)
- Proven interest in tech
- Evidence of a commitment to develop new skills, especially in tech
- Some understanding of core IT concepts such as hardware, operating systems, firewalls, networks, virtual machines etc.
- Ability to engage customers and build relationships at a business to business level
- Confidence to communicate with clients
- Good organisational skills
- Confident IT user
- BTEC in IT / Computer Science (grade Merit or Distinction) is desirable.
- You will need to commit to completing a Level 3 Digital Support Technician Apprenticeship.
- Anyone with more than six months' professional experience working in a relevant job role or who holds relevant professional qualifications or a tech degree will not be eligible.
Responsibilities
- Taking general support calls for queries about the software
- Providing training via online video calls
- Developing training resources which may be in written and video format
- Resolving support calls over the phone
- Contacting new & existing software users to build a relationship with them
- Identifying opportunities for new business
- Testing new features in the software and writing documentation for clients on usage
- Communicating effectively through a variety of different channels using terminology appropriate to the audience
- Using digital resources to extend own knowledge and skills relevant to their role
- Investigating application problems and enabling resolution to maintain productivity and improve quality of service.
- Coaching and guiding stakeholders to develop their applications skills to use digital systems effectively.
- Monitoring data to analyse systems use and providing insights to recommend use or applications developments.
- Supporting customers in the use of information, products and services through digital channels.
- Diagnosing technical problems by identifying and applying tools and techniques to undertake fault finding, recording and rectification.
- Maintaining end-user systems physically or remotely (software, hardware, or operating systems).
- Providing and directing end-users to tools and resources to help them resolve their digital problems.

- Wage: £15,600 a year.
- Hours: Monday - Friday. Shifts TBC. 37 hours 30 minutes a week.
- Training: Digital support technician (level 3) apprenticeship including opportunities to gain British Computer Society qualifications. Work alongside an experienced Service Desk team with 1-2-1 coaching, group activities, online learning, and work-based tasks.
- After apprenticeship: Ongoing employment and career progression with opportunities to specialise in other areas of the business.
