Finlay Jude Associates are recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering business in the Whitworth area. Our client is seeking an experienced IT Support Assistant to work with the IT Manager to provide the business and group, IT support, advice and maintenance to internal company-wide IT and software applications and hardware.
This will initially be a temporary position with a view to becoming permanent, following a successful probation period.
Package and Benefits
- Salary: £25,000 – £35,000 DOE
- Hours: 37 hours p/w Monday – Friday (7.30am – 4pm Monday – Thursday and 7am – 12pm on Friday)
- Onsite parking – you must have a full UK Driving licence

IT Support Assistant Role and Duties
- Providing the business and DCN group, IT support, advice and maintenance to internal company-wide IT and software applications and hardware including:
- Server maintenance and patching.
- Network support and installation.
- Installation and repair of operating systems and software.
- VPN, BOVPN configuration and maintenance.
- Software support including Office 365, Windows, SQL.
- PC maintenance and repairs.
- Printers.
- Configuration of VoIP Handsets within onsite PABX GUI.
- Maintenance of timesheet system.
- The maintenance of the business IT infrastructure.
- Taking responsibility for all above aspects of a project on an individual basis or taking responsibility of just some aspects whilst working together on a team project to ensure all departmental procedures & company health and safety systems are adhered to and any issued PPE or safety related equipment is utilised as and when required.
- To ensure any specific customer site rules are followed at all times.
- Any other duties as requested by management

Required Skills and Experience
- Full UK driving licence
- Essential knowledge and experience of Microsoft Windows Server environments, including:
- Active Directory
- Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
- DHCP
- DNS
- RAID
- Out-of-Band Management (iLO)
- Microsoft Windows operating systems.
- Microsoft Office applications.
- Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), and ODBC connectivity.
- T-SQL query development and troubleshooting.
- Network technologies, including:
- Firewall configuration
- Virtual Private Networks (VPNs)
- LAN and VLAN configuration and support
- PC hardware architecture, fault diagnosis, and basic hardware repair.
- Microsoft Excel, including formula creation and data analysis.
- General IT support, troubleshooting, and system administration practices
