About The Role
Matchtech is actively seeking a dedicated IT Support Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This role is based at the company's Head Office in Buckinghamshire and is integral to maintaining the seamless operation of IT services within the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing first- and second-line technical support, ensuring that all users receive timely and effective assistance. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an IT professional with a strong foundation in Windows environments, Microsoft 365 administration, and network troubleshooting to contribute to a critical sector, supporting national security initiatives. The role requires a proactive problem solver who can manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and support ongoing IT projects and infrastructure improvements.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess relevant experience and qualifications including:
- Proven experience in IT support roles, providing both 1st and 2nd line support services.
- Strong knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems, particularly Windows 11, including configuration and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience administering and supporting Windows Active Directory environments.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration, including Teams, Exchange Online, and user account management.
- Understanding of endpoint management tools and principles such as Intune, device configuration, and patch management.
- Basic networking knowledge, including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and VPN connectivity.
- Familiarity with IT service management tools and incident handling processes.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to root cause analysis.
- Strong communication skills, capable of explaining technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
- A customer-focused attitude with a commitment to delivering high-quality support services.

Responsibilities
The IT Support Engineer will be responsible for a broad range of tasks, including:
- Providing first- and second-line support for incidents and service requests through the IT service management system, ensuring timely resolution.
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues across desktop and laptop environments.
- Managing user accounts, permissions, and access controls within Active Directory and Microsoft 365 platforms.
- Supporting and administering Microsoft 365 services, including Teams collaboration and Exchange Online mailboxes.
- Building, configuring, and deploying Windows desktop devices in line with organizational standards and security policies.
- Supporting onboarding and offboarding processes, including account provisioning, equipment setup, and decommissioning.
- Escalating complex technical issues to senior engineers or third-party vendors when necessary, ensuring minimal disruption.
- Maintaining comprehensive and up-to-date documentation of incidents, solutions, and system configurations to support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Contributing to service improvement initiatives, automation efforts, and the development of knowledge bases to enhance support efficiency.
- Participating in IT projects and infrastructure changes, providing technical support and expertise to ensure successful implementation.
