About The Role

We are currently recruiting for an IT Support Engineer on behalf of our long-standing client who provides bespoke IT solutions to businesses across the UK. This role offers an excellent opportunity for IT professionals seeking to advance their careers within a supportive and dynamic environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical support to clients, both on-site and remotely, ensuring their IT infrastructure operates smoothly and efficiently. This position is ideal for individuals with a solid foundation in IT support, who are eager to work in a client-focused role that combines technical expertise with excellent customer service skills. The role requires being based within a reasonable commuting distance of Cullen, NE Scotland, as some office presence will be necessary.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess a basic understanding of PC hardware setup and configuration. Knowledge of networking, backup software, and accounts software would be considered advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, both over the phone and face-to-face, with a professional, approachable manner. Experience in diagnosing hardware and software faults is essential. A proactive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to inspire confidence in users are also critical. Candidates with experience working for small or medium-sized businesses, or with a broad range of IT support experience, will have an added advantage. The ability to explore customer situations thoroughly and deliver solutions that meet their needs is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to clients by answering support queries either on-site, via phone, or email, ensuring prompt and effective resolution of issues.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service for all support interactions, adhering to service management principles and best practices.
  • Assist with customer implementations remotely or on-site, ensuring smooth deployment and integration of IT solutions.
  • Take ownership of user problems, demonstrating a proactive approach to resolving issues and minimizing downtime.
  • Respond to client enquiries, diagnosing and resolving hardware or software problems efficiently.
  • Support users in the effective use of computer equipment by providing necessary training and advice tailored to their needs.
  • Escalate complex service issues to senior team members or relevant specialists to ensure timely resolution.
  • Document support cases accurately and maintain detailed records of troubleshooting steps and resolutions.
  • Stay updated with the latest technology trends and support tools to enhance service delivery.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the support team, sharing knowledge and best practices.
