Job Title: IT Support Technician - First Line

Location: Towcester

Salary: £26,227.5 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Right to live and work in the UK is required for this role.

Role Summary

As an IT Support Technician, you'll play a key role in keeping our people connected and productive, supporting end-user services including PCs, mobile devices, networks, printers, and security, alongside modern platforms such as Office 365, Azure AD, and Sophos. The role offers variety and hands-on involvement, from hardware support to contributing to IT infrastructure projects, with the opportunity to be a trusted first point of contact for technical support across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to first-line support requests via phone, email, or in person, logging and tracking tickets in line with SLAs
  • Investigate issues, escalating complex cases and liaising with other teams/suppliers as needed
  • Resolve basic support requests following standard procedures
  • Carry out basic laptop repairs and manage mobile phone configuration/support
  • Maintain accurate hardware and software asset inventory
  • Assist with IT projects such as desktop refreshes, OS migrations, file-share migrations, and printer replacements
  • Apply security updates (e.g. Windows patches, security policies) and support office moves

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Well-organised, disciplined, and detail-focused
  • General IT, internet, and software literacy, with competence in Microsoft software packages
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Windows 10/11
  • General IT security awareness
  • Hands-on IT hardware troubleshooting experience, including the ability to replace key laptop components (or willingness to learn)
