IT Support Technician, Ops Tech Solutions (OTS)

IT Support Technician – Operations Teams at Amazon

Location: Logistics sites in the UK Employment Type: Permanent (working hours may include early mornings, evenings, nights, and weekends as part of a rotating shift pattern)

About the Role

IT Technicians within Amazon’s Operations teams hold non-traditional roles—they are the backbone of operational IT across sites. As an IT Support Technician, you’ll collaborate with global support teams and business colleagues to deliver timely and efficient IT support. You’ll work with cutting-edge tech in a supportive environment where mentorship and career development are prioritised. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first and second-line IT support by installing, configuring, and troubleshooting IT infrastructure, end-user devices (Windows/Mac/Linux-based), and applications
  • Manage and resolve IT service tickets in a structured workflow, monitoring for proactive maintenance and improvement
  • Perform proactive maintenance to maximise the uptime and reliability of IT equipment across sites
  • Collaborate with the broader IT Service team to implement projects and drive innovation in service delivery
  • Understand and document workflows, ensuring seamless escalation and continuous improvement

About the Team – OTS (Ops Tech IT)

  • Global Excellence: OTS provides 24/7 technical support to Amazon’s logistics operations, global supply chains, and thousands of devices across Europe.
  • Core Principles:
    • Performance-Driven: Constantly balancing efficiency with sustainability in all new solutions.
    • Collaborative Culture: Engineers, analysts, managers, and support champions work together to deliver the best outcomes for both internal users and the wider business.
  • Onsite Focus: The majority of expertise-based roles (including this IT Support Technician opportunity) are in physical operational sites, enabling hands-on issue resolution.
  • ** Impactful Work:** Our team comprises engineers, project leads, and support specialists who ensure end-user devices remain operational in every corner of our logistical network.

Qualifications

Basic (Essential)

  • Hands-on experience supporting Windows, Mac, and/or Linux in a corporate or business environment
  • Confirmed expertise in troubleshooting integrated, interdependent systems (including user-end devices)
  • Familiarity with maintaining and repairing:
    • Zebra thermal label/scanner printers
    • Linux-based or Windows Slim Plus thin clients
    • Portable field devices (e.g., handheld terminals)
  • Proven experience with proactive network troubleshooting and support

  • Certifications (relevant industries):
    • CompTIA A+
    • CompTIA Network+
    • Cisco/CCNA
    • Linux RedHat
    • **Microsoft hardware support (installation)

  • Experience in a fast-paced, customer-service-centric environment, where continuous role adaptation is required.
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills to foster growth across support specialists and internal clients.
