About the Role
The IT Operations team at the University of Maryland is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join us as an IT Systems Administrator. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting our diverse range of IT systems and infrastructure. You will work closely with other IT professionals to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our technology services, supporting the academic and research missions of the University.

- Install, configure, and maintain servers (Windows and Linux).
- Manage network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for end-users and systems.
- Implement and manage security measures to protect IT assets.
- Monitor system performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and maintain system documentation.
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience as an IT Systems Administrator or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
- Experience with network administration and security concepts.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) is a plus.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or MCSA are desirable.
