About the Role

The IT Systems Administrator serves as a member of the DT Infrastructure team, responsible for administering IT systems that ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability across the Mission. The incumbent delivers Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support through multiple channels, performs system analysis and configuration management, and operates systems with post-wide impact.

They collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical issues, support network security measures, and conduct system audits to maintain regulatory compliance. The role also includes educating users on information security best practices and contributing to broader DT initiatives, reflecting a comprehensive, mission-focused approach to IT administration and support.

What You'll Do

Systems Administration & Technical Support

  • Administer and maintain network and enterprise applications, user accounts, device configurations, and permissions; troubleshoot and resolve Tier 1 and Tier 2 incidents across all contact channels.
  • Use system administrator privileges, scripting, and group policies to manage access to department networks, cloud platforms, digital resources, and voice communication systems.
  • Install, configure, deploy, and troubleshoot endpoint devices; automate routine setup and management tasks using scripting.
  • Provide dedicated IT support for VIP/VVIP visits, establishing communications infrastructure and high-speed connectivity at hotels and event sites.
  • Manage IT infrastructure across network, voice, cabling, wireless, satellite, radio, and media distribution systems; install and maintain wiring in USG facilities and residences per Department standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of network diagrams, asset inventories, circuit inventories, and operational procedures.

Training, Knowledge Management & Cybersecurity

  • Stay current on emerging technologies through independent study and formal training; cross-train a backup on core portfolio functions.
  • Document problems and corrective actions in the Mission's knowledge management system; maintain workstation and network resource documentation.
  • Assist the ISSO in maintaining unclassified networks, applying patches, auditing log files, and educating users on cybersecurity best practices.

Projects & Administrative Support

  • Execute project tasks under DT project managers; track milestones and manage budget estimates, timelines, and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology to improve Mission efficiency and innovation.
  • Conduct IT asset inventory using approved tracking systems; provide general administrative support including monthly statement reconciliation.

What We're Looking For

For the experience and education requirements, applicants must meet either Option 1 or Option 2.

OPTION 1

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 2 years of experience in computer networking and PBX operations, network management or utilisation of computer systems is required.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Network and Telecom (PBX) is required.

OPTION 2

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 5 years of experience in computer networking and PBX operations, network management or utilisation of computer systems is required.

EDUCATION: Completion of Secondary school is required.

Language: Fluent English; speaking/reading/writing

Job Knowledge:

  • Systems analysis and design techniques
  • Computer equipment operations and management
  • Hardware, software, and cloud-based technologies
  • Computer networking
  • Technical analysis methods and computer application software development concepts
  • Management advisory services

Skills And Abilities:

  • Proficiency in office productivity suites, such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, OpenOffice, or equivalent.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively across diverse cultural backgrounds, languages, technical knowledge levels, and organisational seniority.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor information clearly to varied audiences.
