IT Support Technician – IMI plc

We design, build, and service highly engineered products in fluid and motion control applications, focusing on five key market sectors: Industrial Automation, Process Automation, Climate Control, Life Science and Fluid Control, and Transport.
Role Overview
This role will support and manage in-house IT systems, including:
- Reviewing and administering the service desk
- Managing end-user devices
- Maintaining network services
- Ensuring high levels of availability, security, and effective operation of critical business applications
- Providing reliable end-user support
The role owner must ensure IT services comply with organisational policies, industry best practices, and relevant regulatory requirements. Collaboration with internal IT teams and external suppliers is essential to:
- Resolve issues
- Maintain service standards
- Improve IT systems and user experience
Key Responsibilities
Primarily includes (but not limited to):
Technical Support
- Provide first-line technical support to end users, resolving:
- Hardware/software issues
- Password/access problems
- Timely ticket resolution
- Assist in monitoring network connectivity and:
- Performing routine checks on Cisco switches, routers, and wireless access points
- Escalating complex issues as needed

System Administration
- Support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of:
- Servers
- End-user devices (desktops, laptops, mobile devices)
- Printers
- Perform:
- Routine system health checks
- Patch management (under supervision)
Security
- Conduct basic security tasks:
- User account provisioning
- Monitoring for unauthorised access
- Supporting antivirus/endpoint protection updates
- Assisting with audits of security policies
- Maintain:
- File/permissions security
- Security/administration tools
Record Keeping & Compliance
- Maintain accurate:
- Records of support activities
- Asset inventories
- Documentation of system/setting changes
Infra & Collaboration
- Work with senior IT and third-party suppliers to:
- Escalate issues
- Attend team meetings
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Administer:
- IT infrastructure (with Microsoft Active Directory, VMware vSphere and Microsoft 365)
- Backup systems (ensuring compliance with business continuity/disaster recovery protocols)

Critical Competencies for Success
Technical Expertise
- Windows 11 (in-depth) and Windows Server (2019+)
- Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services (proficient)
- VMware vSphere (experience required)
- Microsoft 365 (utilisation needed)
- Cisco Network Switches and Wireless (demonstrated knowledge)
Operational Skills
- Networking fundamentals (local IT setups)
- Laptop/PC deployment using imaging tools
- Under-pressure problem-solving (essential)
- Stakeholder relationships & user satisfaction (critical)
