About The Role
We are seeking experienced IT Systems Engineers to join our engineering capability at Leidos, working in collaboration with Hackajob. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on full lifecycle systems engineering activities, with a particular focus on low-level system design, integration, and verification. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of systems engineering principles, experience in accepting and integrating software products from suppliers, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. This position is ideal for professionals eager to leverage their technical expertise in a dynamic environment that values innovation, integrity, and excellence. The role offers flexibility, including remote work options, with periodic visits to our Farnborough office and customer locations as required.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of experience in a systems engineering role within IT or software systems. A strong familiarity with systems engineering frameworks such as ICOSE, NAF, DODAF, MODAF, or MBSE is essential. Candidates should have a good working knowledge of hardware and software used in IT systems and experience working within both Agile and Waterfall delivery models. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering or technology-related fields. Proficiency with system modeling tools such as SysML, UML, and enterprise design software like Cameo or Archimate is advantageous. Security clearance eligibility, including the ability to obtain Metropolitan Police Service NPPV2 clearance and willingness to pursue MOD DV clearance, is also preferred.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update the Requirements Verification Traceability Matrix (RVTM) to ensure alignment between requirements and design artifacts.
- Update system design documents and artifacts to reflect changes and ensure they are mapped accurately to RVTM.
- Collaborate with testing teams to review requirements against test cases and acceptance criteria, identify gaps, and propose solutions to mitigate risks.
- Define, document, and gain stakeholder approval for acceptance criteria to ensure clear understanding of system deliverables.
- Support interface definition and design, ensuring seamless integration of hardware, software, and network components.
- Implement version control for all relevant systems engineering artifacts and interfaces to maintain integrity and traceability.
- Manage program V-Model activities and artifacts, liaising closely with delivery team leads to ensure compliance and progress.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate hardware, software, and network integration, ensuring system coherence and performance.
- Document data flow and system data matrices to support system understanding and troubleshooting.
- Contribute to the development of the System Concept of Operations (CONOPS) through process definition and documentation.
- Track project progress, dependencies, and deliverables, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
- Review and update the Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) as needed to reflect project changes and improvements.
- Document engineering management and governance processes to ensure consistency and compliance across projects.
