I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- User administration and provisioning, security group management, mailbox administration, and licensing.

What Would Make You Stand Out
The two areas above are the essence of this role. Beyond that, experience in any of the following would be hugely beneficial - the business operates a connected retail, e-commerce, and warehouse technology stack, so exposure to these areas will help you hit the ground running:
- Business systems - ERP support (NetSuite in particular), Shopify or other e-commerce platforms, warehouse/WMS platforms (e.g. Peoplevox, Mintsoft), and integrations between them.
- Cyber security & compliance - implementing security controls, Cyber Essentials, UK GDPR, business continuity and disaster recovery.
- Reporting & data - Power BI, SQL, and API integrations.
- Projects - system upgrades, cloud migrations, and new application rollouts.
- Retail environments - POS systems and multi-site support.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in an IT Operations, Infrastructure, Systems Administration, or IT Support role.
- Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience, including Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Microsoft Intune experience and Windows 10/11 support.
- Solid IT infrastructure support experience: device deployment and lifecycle management, networking fundamentals, Wi-Fi and remote access, and endpoint security.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to explain technical matters to non-technical audiences.
- A proactive, customer-focused approach with the ability to work independently and balance operational support with project work.
