IT Systems Engineer
A large global law firm is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join their IT team . This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-grade infrastructure with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Azure, the Microsoft 365 (M365) ecosystem, and Cisco networking technologies
Salary up to £75,000 9:30am to 6:00pm working hours Hybrid working (2 or 3 days in the office) Generous employee benefits
The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, a security-first mindset, and experience operating in a professional services or legal environment where uptime, confidentiality, and performance are critical.
IT Systems Engineer Key Responsibilities:
Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure within Microsoft Azure, including virtual networks, compute resources, storage, identity, and security services. Administer and optimize the Microsoft 365 stack, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Entra ID (Azure AD), and Intune. Implement and maintain Cisco networking solutions, including routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless infrastructure, as well as Palo Alto Networks firewalls and security platforms. Monitor system performance, availability, and security across cloud and on-premises environments. Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex infrastructure and networking issues. Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement best practices for data protection, compliance, and threat mitigation. Automate infrastructure deployment and management using scripting tools such as PowerShell, Azure CLI, or Terraform. Support hybrid cloud environments, including integration between on-premises systems and Azure services. Maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.

IT Systems Engineer Skills & Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or infrastructure roles, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment. Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure services (IaaS, PaaS, networking, security, identity). Strong experience with Microsoft 365 administration and architecture. Hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies (e.g., Catalyst, Nexus, ASA, Meraki) and Palo Alto Networks platforms (e.g., PAN-OS, Prisma Access). Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation. Experience with identity and access management, including SSO and MFA. Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies. Familiarity with compliance frameworks relevant to legal environments (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001)
