The role
As an IT Systems Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is a unique opportunity to influence technology direction, enhance digital capabilities, and make a real impact on national security while advancing your career in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment.
Day-to-day, you’ll be at the forefront of digital transformation within Babcock Naval Nuclear. You’ll develop strategies, manage complex IT systems, and deliver innovative solutions that support critical defence programmes.
- Developing digital strategies and roadmaps aligned with programme objectives
- Representing the programme in client and internal meetings
- Identifying opportunities to enhance digital delivery and ensuring governance and documentation are in place
- Overseeing daily support for digital engineering tools, applications, and issue resolution
- Coordinating with corporate IT and stakeholders to ensure effective planning and delivery
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience of the IT Systems Lead
- Proven experience managing complex IT systems, infrastructure, and enterprise platforms
- Expertise in IT governance, service management (ITSM), and compliance frameworks
- Proficiency in cloud technologies, system integration, and digital transformation
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
Qualifications for the IT Systems Lead
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s or professional certifications preferred)
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
