IT Teacher

Permanent Full-Time IT Teacher (Computing/Information Technology) – Bradford, West Yorkshire

Starting September 2024


About the Role

Are you an enthusiastic Information Technology professional seeking a permanent, full-time teaching opportunity in a Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school?

This role offers a fresh start in September to lead, develop, and deliver high-quality IT and Computer Science lessons to Key Stage 3 through to Sixth Form. As a key member of the IT department, you will:

  • Create a dynamic, forward-thinking learning environment
  • Build essential digital literacy and computing expertise in students
  • Foster confidence as digital citizens for tomorrow’s world

✅ Qualification: QTS, QTLS, or equivalent REC recognised UK teaching qualification ✅ DBS Check: Valid Enhanced DBS clearance (must be updated via DBS Update service) ✅ Curriculum Knowledge:

  • Deep understanding of UK National Curriculum (IT/Computing) for GCSE and A-Level frameworks
  • Familiarity with modern computing standards and industry-relevant pedagogy ✅ Work Eligibility: Must hold valid legal entitlement to work full-time in the UK

    • Advanced knowledge of IT systems, software applications, coding and programming (e.g., Python, Java, Scratch, and web development principles)

    • Strong ability to plan structured, impactful lesson sequences (ensure long-term student recall)

    • Skilled in maintaining a calm, focused, and inclusive learning environment
  • Pastoral Care
    • Empathetic approach to supporting student well-being and personal growth

    • Exceptional organisational skills for lesson planning, grading, and administrative duties

    • Proactive mindset for overcoming challenges and pushing for excellence

Core Responsibilities

  • Teaching & Curriculum Delivery
    • Deliver engaging IT and Computer Science lessons for Key Stages 3, 4 & 5
    • Plan and sequence ambitious curriculum aligned with national standards and the academy framework
  • Assessment & Support
    • Assess and track pupil progress; provide constructive feedback for academic growth
    • Foster an inclusive yet challenging learning environment with high standards of behaviour and respect
  • Leadership & Values
    • Help embed character-building opportunities in IT lessons (tied to the school’s leadership specialism)
  • Differentiation & Support
    • Develop differentiated learning resources to meet varying academic and pastoral needs
    • Work with teaching assistants and SEN teams to champion students with special educational needs
  • Collaboration & Extracurriculars
    • Attend departmental meetings, parent consultations, and academy-wide initiatives
    • Share passion for IT by leading extracurricular clubs or helping organise STEM-related events
  • School Commitments
    • Keep up with technological advancements and e-safety guidelines for a modern, secure digital learning space
