Pro-Pak Foods is a major supplier of delicious ready meals to many of the UK’s leading supermarkets and convenience stores. Our chefs, working in partnership with our customers, have created a menu of more than 200 quality meals.
We pride ourselves on our dedication to sustainability, innovation, and excellence. Due to an internal promotion we are currently seeking a skilled IT Technician to join our IT team based on-site Malton. Reporting directly to the IT Manager.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of our organisation while developing your IT skills in a dynamic work environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance to our employees, ensuring the smooth operation of our IT systems and infrastructure. You will work closely with our IT Manager and the rest of our wider IT team to maintain, troubleshoot and improve our computer systems, networks, and related equipment. Our ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, possess excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to end-users, addressing issues related to hardware, software and network systems, both remotely and in person. Support will be needed within the factory.
- Install, configure and maintain computer systems, software and peripherals, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Assist with the management and maintenance of the company's network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls and other networking devices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve IT issues, documenting resolutions and escalating more complex issues to the IT Manager as needed.
- Conduct regular system backups, updates, and maintenance tasks, ensuring data integrity and system reliability.
- Monitor system performance and identify areas for improvement, making recommendations to the IT Manager.
- Assist with IT projects, including the planning, implementation and testing of new hardware, software or network solutions.
- Collaborate with other departments to understand their IT needs and identify ways to support their goals and objectives.
- Maintain an inventory of IT equipment, software and licences, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies, sharing knowledge with the IT team and suggesting potential improvements.

- Ideally, you’ll have experience in a similar IT support role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software and networking concepts would be advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly and effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Familiarity with industry best practices and security standards.
This role requires you to support our teams both in our offices and factory.
