IT Technician (Permanent / Full Time)

Department: IT Location: Manchester (On-Site) Type of Contract: Permanent / Full Time (Weekdays and Weekends) Salary: £27,500 - £29,500

The Role

Are you a skilled and proactive IT Technician? This role offers the opportunity to:

  • Be the first point of support for technical needs
  • Provide high-quality face-to-face IT services
  • Make a tangible impact on students' success through reliable technology

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver in-person IT support to students and staff across our GBS campuses
  • Assist with the setup and installation of Audio Visual (AV) and IT equipment
  • Install, configure, and maintain PC/laptop systems, including operating systems, software, and drivers
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical issues within guidelines, escalating when necessary
  • Maintain records, logs, and schedules for loan equipment, repairs, and maintenance
  • Follow security and privacy best practices for networks and systems

Requirements

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of internet security and data privacy (CompTIA Network+/Security+ certified preferred)
  • Experience with operating system and software installation
  • Hands-on expertise in:
    • Computer networks
    • Network administration & installation
  • IT support experience (both in-person and remotely)
  • Knowledge of ITIL best practices and service management systems
  • Awareness of:
    • Technical management, information analysis
    • Computer hardware/software systems
  • Experience with:
    • Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory
    • Windows-based systems
    • Backup, recovery, and performance monitoring
  • Ability to implement, configure, and test solutions
