IT Technician

IT Technician – Cross Hands Site (Red Meat Processor Support Role)

Are you ready to join a pivotal team as an IT Technician at Dunbia, a leading red meat processor known for supplying top-quality beef and lamb to global markets? Dunbia is seeking a dedicated individual to support their IT Team in managing IT operations at our Cross Hands site.


Responsibilities

  • Provide first and second-level IT support for all Dunbia Cross Hands software and hardware, including:

    • Diagnosing and resolving end-user technical issues with a focus on timely, efficient resolutions.
    • Addressing requests via telephone, email, face-to-face interactions, and the IT Service Desk.
  • Documentation and tracking

    • Log, monitor, and track issues to ensure business continuity and user satisfaction.
    • Prioritise and escalate issues as required.
  • Customer support

    • Deliver high-quality technical support across internal and external stakeholders.
    • Provide product knowledge and training to all customers (end-users and clients).

  • Process improvement & problem-solving

    • Identify trends in support calls and develop documentation to mitigate recurring issues.
    • Report unusual spikes or repeated issues to the Team and Department Manager.
    • Recommend systems, procedural enhancements, training initiatives, and documentation improvements.
  • System and product development assistance

    • Collaborate in the development and testing of new systems as necessary to ensure operational integrity.

Working Hours

  • Sunday: 07:00–18:30
  • Monday: 07:00–18:30
  • Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday: 15:30–23:30

Responsibility & Authority

  • Independent action: Work autonomously when required.
  • Collaboration: Engage with team members to establish best practices and decision-making frameworks.
  • Compliance: Adhere to Dunbia’s Group IT values and policies. Management/Supervisory: None assigned under this role.

Education & Experience

  • A minimum of one year’s experience in technical support.
  • An IT or engineering degree is beneficial, though not mandatory.
  • Prior help desk experience is essential.

Technical Proficiencies

  • Strong computer literacy, covering:
    • Software and hardware installation
    • Microsoft applications (administration tools)
    • VMWare, database applications
    • Networking, web applications, and internet protocols
    • Electro-mechanical knowledge (additional advantage)
  • Ability to **multitask, work under urgency, and maintain a strong work ethic regardless of challenge.

Personal Attributes

  • Excellent telephone presence, including clear follow-up and organisation.
  • Proactive approach, able to take direction and take ownership of tasks.
  • Positive attitude and ability to remain calm under pressure.

Qualifications

Licensing/Certification: Not required but encouraged for professional growth.
