Job Description

This is an external facing role designing and delivering IT education and training services to enable customers to gain maximum understanding of Public Safety software products;

As a Trainer, your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Delivering training programmes to clients either in a group classroom setting, or online through Webinars, e-learning or on a one-to-one basis;
  • Conducting training needs analysis;
  • Designing course materials and other documents such as handouts, manuals and exercises to suit a wide audience ranging from end users to system administrators;
  • Developing train-the-trainer packages;
  • Preparing the learning environment and resources, including setting up IT equipment;
  • Organising and marketing courses to meet the needs of learners and demands of business;
  • Supporting projects with any training consultancy required to define training strategies for our customers;
  • Supporting and coaching learners using a learning portal or self-learning packages;
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of the training and course outcomes;
  • Liaising with external course providers, employers, clients, examining bodies and software companies, etc.;
  • Taking responsibility for maintenance of hardware and software used for training purposes and recommending repairs and upgrades to management where appropriate;
  • Keeping up to date with relevant systems, software and online training technology;
  • Dealing with administrative records.

This role requires travel - 75% of the time.

Qualifications

Software:

  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft office (word, powerpoint etc).
  • Proficient in the use of Google apps (Gmail, Drive, Sheets etc).
  • Knowledge of training methodologies and learning styles.
  • Knowledge of Madcap Flare.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Captivate and Camtasia.

Essential - experience of:

  • Developing training strategies to meet needs of customers.
  • Delivering training on software packages.
  • Design and construction of training packages.
  • Conducting training needs analysis.

Desirable - experience of:

  • Any public safety (police, healthcare) market experience.
  • Experience of developing engaging e-learning content and media.
  • Any LPI or other professional training body recognised qualification.

Personal skills:

  • Interpersonal skills that enable you to work with people at all levels, motivate others and change people's attitudes when necessary;
  • Written and spoken communication skills that allow you to inform and advise others clearly;
  • Problem-solving and negotiation skills;
  • Initiative and the ability to offer new ideas;
  • Organisational and planning skills to manage your time and to meet deadlines and objectives;
  • Good personal presentation as well as presentation skills;
  • Personal commitment to improving your own knowledge and skills.
  • Must be able to deal with customers even under pressure.
  • Must have a professional outlook at all times.
  • Patience and confidence;
  • Self-motivation and the ability to motivate others;
  • A willingness to learn.
  • A ‘can do’ attitude.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate a pre-existing right to work and travel within the EU. Documentary evidence will be required.

Candidates will be expected to either have, or satisfactorily achieve, NPPV security clearance.

All offers are subject to satisfactory vetting and reference checks. Depending on the nature of the role a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check may also be required.
