Janitor

Job Title: Permanent Janitors (Facilities Team)


Key Information

  • Closing Date: 17th July 2026 (note: this may refer to an old posting; check current deadlines)
  • Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent
  • Salary: £26,292 – £26,820 (paid at Stirling Council Grade 4)
  • Hours: 35 per week (52.2 weeks/year)
  • Location: Balfron High School, Stirling

About the Role

Stirling Council is recruiting three dedicated permanent janitors to join their newly established facilities team at Balfron High School.

This role operates across five days per week (Monday to Sunday), with weekends included on a rota basis. Working hours are:

  • Monday to Friday: 06:30 – 22:30 (8 hours daily, including 1-hour unpaid break)
  • Weekends: Reduced service (by agreement)

Key tasks include:

  • Porterage and heavy lifting
  • General school facility maintenance
  • Basic IT tasks (e.g., interacting with online training/Human Resources systems)

Requirements:

  • Physical fitness (lifting/dragging heavy objects common)
  • Willingness to work weekends, at times outdoors, and in all weather
  • Basic working knowledge of IT (training provided for council systems)
  • No formal qualifications required for entry

A PVG Scheme clearance (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) for children and adults will be required if shortlisted.
