Senior Java Developer
TTC Group is looking for a Senior Java Developer to join an international team responsible for building a Content Management System (CMS) that powers content and metadata for Sky's video streaming platforms, including Peacock, SkyShowtime, Showmax, and NowTV, across multiple continents. In this role, you will develop Java-based applications such as data ingestion pipeline services, internal web applications for editorial teams, and highly scalable APIs.
You will help drive the team's technical direction, promote engineering best practices, and maintain high-quality standards. Beyond developing new features and technical enhancements, you will play a key role in resolving production incidents, supporting the team's services, debugging complex issues, and ensuring system reliability, scalability, and performance. You will be expected to propose technical solutions, make sound architectural decisions, and address complex engineering challenges while considering non-functional requirements such as security, resiliency, and performance. As a senior team member, you will mentor and coach junior developers, helping them strengthen both their technical expertise and professional skills, including communication, collaboration, and ownership. You will also build strong relationships across teams, proactively share knowledge, and foster a culture of continuous learning, teamwork, and innovation.

Must Have Skills
- Strong Java and Spring knowledge and experience with technologies - AWS, PostgreSQL, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana, Jenkins
What Skills Do You Need to Play Your Role Well?
- Strong Java and Spring knowledge and experience with technologies such as AWS, PostgreSQL, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana, Jenkins
- Good overview of other relevant technologies and experience with designing software solutions
- Ability to work well not only in your team but also in a cross-team environment.
- Hands-on experience in designing, developing, and successfully deploying web applications, RESTful APIs, or event-driven systems and asynchronous messaging using Kafka
- Experience with automated test frameworks, including considerations for non-functional requirements
- Knowledge of Unix/Linux and scripting languages (Bash, etc.)
- Being self-driven and eager to learn and stay updated with the latest technologies, frameworks, and best practices.
- Creative thinking skills and analytical skills, with attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities
- Development of the CMS application components using Java and Spring with a focus on both new features and fixes or improvements of existing functionality
- Strive for continuous improvement – be able to improve existing practices and techniques from within the team with enthusiasm
- Write well-tested code for robustness, including edge cases, usability and general reliability. Focus on non-functional testing as well.
- Lead in setting up the CI and CD, monitoring and alerting, and in general improving the reliability and robustness of the system
- Identify and resolve issues in the codebase. Use debugging tools and techniques to diagnose problems.
- Mentor less experienced members of the team
- Lead in the maintenance and support of the AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes deployment, PostgreSQL Database, or Kafka
- Review code written by peers to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Work closely with other developers and architects to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
- Participate in daily standup meetings as well as other team ceremonies to discuss progress, blockers, and plans.
